Ok, so my pony is out on loan. He has an adult rider and then the son rides him in the school. They signed a loan agreement based on the BHS. The problem is, a few niggles but I accepted that I would lose a bit of control and might not like some things, they're no necessarily wrong but not my way? visited and he seemed happy and had lost weight. But, since he's been there in a field incident another pony's jaw got broken and my pony is being blamed. Fair enough apparently they didn't get on. But, he is now being restricted in that he's turned out alone. This is all very well but the reason he's out on loan is to give him a better quality of life (rather than not getting any attention while I'm at uni) and I'm just not sure if being out on his own is right for him, we've never kept any on their own. What do you think?

I'm not sure, I know he is used (5yrs) to being in a herd and loves his friends, he was never the problem with us but with a different group I could see him testing the water

tbh if they've got back shoes on, i always have them out on their own. it's just too risky. as long as they're near/next to the others, and can groom over the fence, i think they're absolutely fine. i can totally understand other owners not wanting to risk their horses/ponies if it's likely he was the culprit, tbh.

Have talked to her and he can see the others, so not so bad. Will go and visit him I think next time I'm home and see then, we always herd ours, even if just in pairs so loaner is going to see if he can be re-introduced one at a time.
