I have recently begin feeding my mare haylage after her colic episode as she dropped so much weight and refused to eat hay. She's tucking in well and putting weight back on gradually which is great. However the last two days I have noticed tiny white pearly coloured 'seeds' in her droppings.
My first thought was worm eggs, but aren't they too small to see without a microscope? I also considered bot eggs, but they are grass seed shaped rather than spherical.
My vets took two lots of bloods after her colic which revealed she had no major worm burden, and no other issue (tumour etc) which is great, but have recommended I have a worm count done all the same even though she is low risk.
I personally would prefer to worm her with pramox in case of encysted redworm, as I have heard this does not show in a worm count.
Anyway, my question is, does anyone know what these white things could be? She is fed Calm and Condition, micronised linseed, chaff, equimins advanced concentrate powder, devils claw in natural form and a joint supplement - I don't think there is anything there that would create these?! Could they be actual grass seeds from the haylage?
