I have been lucky enough to have been shortlisted in a Facebook competition to win a photoshoot with a professional photographer for myself and my lovely horse.
To win the contest I need supportive comments from others to back up our photograph and "story". It isn't just a popularity contest, more so a chance to sell ourselves and gain comments about why we would make worthy winners.
All I am asking is for a couple of minutes to follow the link,

read our story and if you would like to please add your support.
The blurb I have written about George and myself is all true. I know that all of our horses are special to us but George and I really have had some very tricky times.
Within a couple of days of his arrival at my yard it was apparent that the scars left behind by racing were not limited to the physical like the blown tendon that ended his career. While most new owners would have wanted to shower their new steed with affection, I had to be satisified with being allowed in his stable to groom him without being threatened by snapping teeth or flying hooves. If he landed a bite on me he would rush to the back of his stable and cower waiting for me to retaliate. This all made me even more determined to win his trust but it was a very slow process and I am certain that many other people would have given up. Many times I had thoughts that I might have bitten off more than I could chew and I worried that it all might end horribly for me or George. But then the little victories like being able to walk up to his stable door and stroke his neck without him launching at me were enough to keep me going.
Everyone that knows us both now admires the close bond that we have developed. We still have our occaisional "discussions" and I accept that George will most likely never be a cuddly horse but he means the world to me. For one reason or another I doubt that George and I will ever set the competition world alight (he really is an ex racehorse in the truest meaning of the word) so to win a competition like this would make our year!
Sorry for waffling on and thank you in advance if you do decide to cast a vote.
Nichola & George xx
