Now this may seem uncharacteristic, but it suddenly dawned on me today, as Tys was curled up on my feet... just how far we've come.
I love my dog, and somehow despite my issues and his... I've ended up with a dog who loves people, is calm and at ease 90% of the time, no longer destroys my house and is happy being left alone.
I've finally accepted he's got certain quirks that need to be worked around ( no off lead time, a rather expensive kennell outside etc) and now that I have done so... I'm really enjoying him - and he LIKES me!

We'll struggle in the future, he NEVER gives me an easy ride... but I'm so glad I never gave up.

To CC, Cayla, blackcob, KatieLou... to my trainer who occasionally makes me cry... to Bryony who restored my faith in dogs - cheers. He is worth it :)

Whoo go Ty and you.

When you end up with a hard dog it feels like the **** has truly hit the fan until you can look back and see how far you have come and it all becomes worth it.

Dont get me wrong, he's far from perfect and I'm certainly a less than perfect dog owner, but its a good feeling when I think about what we've achieved together :D

I think the harder and more challenging dog requires an awful lot of work and thinking out the box. When it all comes right its an amazing feeling but Im sure like me there are a lot of people out there who think they have taken on more than they can chew. Youve done a really good job and rightly deserve the indulgence of a boastful post:D

What a lovely post, so glad you have made such progress. You may not consider yourself a perfect owner but I bet Tyson is pretty glad he has you. :)
In so many ways hard dogs are more rewarding than easy, biddable ones. Much as I love her Buffy has always been a bit boring to me, cos she never put a foot wrong growing up. Evie has been a challenge but most of the time we have got there, like you I have at long last realised that she has some limitations. She is a demon hunter, and when she is off lead in strange country I am always on edge, I have recently made the decision to just keep her on a long line, result much happier walks for both of us, I am more relaxed and she isn't having me nag her all the time.

Yeah I think the lack of nagging is one of the reasons he seems to genuinely like being with me these days.
Ever since I just chilled out and accepted his limitations etc... we've both been much happier :)
He's enjoying his training more than ever too, which is lovely to see.
Well done Tysie :D

I think as suggested, you need to take the credit, I really felt for you and the despair I felt coming over and I have to be truthful and I thought you may give up:o and u proved me royally wrong:rolleyes:
He is indeed a lucky boy and you are a top class dog owner La la:)

Well I wont lie, I considered giving up loads of times, and probably will again - but tbf who on earth would have him?
This forum is a brilliant thing, and the support thats available from you lot in AAD is invaluable... Who knows why you have a rep for being bitchy - I think you're all smashin' :D
