I use polo bandages on my horses fronts for schooling and use the leaving a strip down the back of the tendon and then bandage method rather than padding underneath.

I wanted to start bandaging her hinds too and I'm wandering is the same method correct for hinds or should I just use the usual method of no strip down the back of the leg on the hinds?

Thanks for reading.

The strip down the back it designed to protect the tendon from striking injuries. Suitable for front legs but not really needed for the hinds. We still used the strip on hind bandages for the polo ponies as there are legs flying everywhere when they play but for your everyday schooling, I wouldn't think it necessary :)

Thanks for your reply, however I usually use the strip down the back method to protect the tendons from the ridges of the bandages and I was wandering if it is needed n the hinds aswell? :)

hi,

there is no harm in doing the strip down the back on the hinds if you want to and feel happier doing so :)
Its personal preference really I think, some people do and some don't.
