My long haired cat has a small scab/sore on the inside of one of her front legs. She nibbles at it quite a bit, so don't know if she first had a bite or something that got itchy, or if she's just gnawing at her skin cos she's a bit "special"

I want to put something on it to soothe it, and try to stop her feeling the need to chew at it. But of course it has to be something that won't harm her if she ingests it. Sudocreme seemed the obvious choice but no idea if that will harm her.

Any ideas? (BTW she is regularly wormed, is otherwise the picture of health, eats top brand dry food, always has water, has access to indoors and outdoors as she pleases, etc etc :) )

She could have a grass seed or tick buried in there. I'd get the vet to have a rootle around to make sure. If it's just a developed habit and you are made of stern stuff, you could get the vet to fit one of those head cones that stop dogs and cats from worrying at an injury. Moggie will hate it but if it stops a behavioural issue that has the potential to grow into an expensive problem then it just has to be done.

One of my puss cats has started doing it. I wonder if it's a reaction to the super duper food he's on. He has to go on to what I call his pee food every so often as he gets little blockages (long story). On a general day he's on Iams. He is missing some hair on his tummy and the backs of both of his arms. I rub olive oil into it to keep the skin soft and supple. It won't harm them at all and I think it probably gets into the skin before they can lick it all off. I did try Sudocreme and he did lick it off hence the olive oil route.

Why not try putting a cone on her head to stop her licking it and see if it gets better? If it's still itchy and she starts at it with her feet then maybe you need to see the vet. If it gets better when she leaves it alone then take the cone off and see what happens.
