Just wondered what you guys thought of this horse I've been helping to bring on at my yard:

16.3hh bright bay lightweight KWPN gelding, 5yo.V attractive, short coupled, screams 'eventer' when you look at him. YO bought him from holland this sept without knowing much about him - v sweet, chilled horse in stable etc. Really started coming on in leaps and bounds in last month which has led us to believe he was prob infact only recently broken when bought to UK. Has been out twice BSJA 70cm and got round, just green indoors. Flies 1.20 at home, not fazed by fillers water trays or anything. I've been schooling him for last 3 weeks, v easy to get round, soft mouth, he has an AMAZING trot that i could sit on all day, and his canter is becoming pretty awesome too. Walk is OK, but he's quite lazy in walk so needs a bit of badgering. Just started walk to canter, shallow loops in canter, leg yeilding, shoulder in and medium trot. He's a quick larner, still a bit sluggish until he gets going. Hacks out in open spaces in company (not tried alone yet), has popped a ditch and some steps. Ridden by 5.5 81/2 st girl, and equally goes well for 6ft bigger bloke.

Bad points - windgalls on hind legs, a tiny bit forward at the knee, did buck a v novicey rider off who came to try him as she was hanging on to his mouth and did some weird canter aid which he didn't understand so he bucked once and she plopped off...poor pony didn't know what has happened!
YO is rapidly losing interest in him as she's really not bothering to spend time writing a good advert for him.

What sort of price whould you guys think...???

about £3-5k due to windgalls........... others may go higher than me, I am just funny about windgalls!

he sounds lovely though! cant blame them for throwing a hissy if people hang onto the mouth!

He is fabulous, I'd get him myself if he were 15.2hh! Yes I'm dubious about the windgalls - obv she hasn't sput any of that stuff in the ad, its just i know they're there. Haven't caused him any probs yet, and he is stabled 24/7 which prob doesnt help, only goes out for 2 x 2hr sessions per week atm!

ah, well for one id turn him out more to try to reduce the fluid/swelling whcih causes windgalls. But each to their own I know some people swear by stabling!

I just dont like windgalls as any sort of inflammation around tendons to me is like DAMN IT!!!!!

but lots of horses have them and are still MINT! so.......

He does sound just lovely! hopefully someone will come sweep him up!

why 15.2??? 16+ is WAY better! hehe (but I am 5ft 10, so a bit taller........)

Im 5'5 but even though ive ridden tbs and wbs in the past ive just sold my lovely connemara that i was eventing who was only 15hh so dont want to leap straight up to something that will mature to 17hh! Also he's too tall to fit in my mini horsebox hehe
and i agree he needs to go out more, bless him.
And i have an interest in his price as YO said she'll pay me for all the work im putting in at the mo.

Ahhh! that makes sense!

O well thats very nice of her! maybe what might help reduce the windgalls might be doing some more hacking rather than just schooling........... but not sure.

it will be interesting to see how this turns out, keep us updated!

I personally would hack him out alone (or at least try) people may want to know if hes safe when doing so, well I would anyway. Windgalls....humm some people say this is from a lot of hard work, road work etc but everyone says different. I would probably say £4000 but try hacking alone.
