The bonkers black pony and I have been trying to find ways to make this long wet, cold winter a little more enjoyable. There haven't been too many opportunities for good hacking as the ground is either heavy and boggy, or frozen solid. He has spent a lot more time on the yard than normal due to the bad ground, so I have been trying to exercise him twice a day. He's such a clown that finding games to play outside 'proper' dressage and jumping sessions is easy. We made a little video of some of his games the other day, if you have a spare 10mins, enjoy!

I know he looks a little unhappy bareback, but I have barely done any bareback since I was a kid and he is not beyond being a little wild so I am not yet very relaxed and probably bump around on him a bit much. He is actually being pretty careful with me! Any tips for improving bareback technique? I can't yet ride a proper trot or canter, just a western style jog and lope.

I must also apologise for
a) how long it is
b) my ridiculous chattering like an imbecile (you don't realise how dumb you sound til you video it!)
and c) for looking like I constantly treat my horse, it just made the session a little more fun for him.
Hopefully you can tell how much he means to me from it though!

Thanks! Ive just noticed the first few minutes dont seem to work well, after that it seems to be okay. Im not great with technology!

You have a fab relationship (and there's nothing wrong with your seat!!). He's got a great mum by the looks of it!

Shame the first bit didn't work, its him sitting on his bum like a big dog, he likes to just sit and watch the world go by. He's a little monkey and I let him get away with far too much, I treat him way too much like a pet, but we have a lot of fun and he's come a long way since his days of regular panic attacks and rodeo sessions. I'm very proud of him!

He's lovely, he's got a real twinkle in his eye and he trusts you so much. much When he knocked the pole down, you could see him thinking 'sorry mum, am I ok mum?' And then relaxing when you reassured him

He took that pole very personally, the bit where my oh filmed the floor he was having a real buck and a strop! If he hadn't insisted on cutting the corner and bombing in he would have had no problem. He does make me smile.

I sometimes hate You Tube. This is one of those times. I really wanted to watch because it sounds like the sort of things we do with out girls.

Oh well,maybe tomorrow!
