At 6 o'clock this morning as I fumbled my way round the yard feeding, I actually thought WTF, I was without a mini-Worried last night I should be still in bed with a hangover! Instead for, what felt like the billionth weekend on the trot we were competing
We were taking 3 of our own (Trev, CP and Arthur) and Mr W was riding for a client. So by 8.15am I had loaded two trailers and two cars with all the gear for 3 horses and two riders, I had plaited and groomed CP and Trev and loaded our three into 2 trailers and Mr W and I departed in convoy. Today made us realise we need to do our HGV and will shortly be looking for a new lorry
Arrived in plenty of time and got ourselves organised as it was going to be manic...
I paused briefly to take rare footage of this...

Mr W actually being helpful! Note the enthusiasm of CP at realising she is once again at a dressage competition!
First up was CP doing two prelims, my confidence was a bit battered after last weekend but this week I took onboard what the judge had said and Mr W helped me work on sharpening the canter transitions and keeping her neck out.
She warmed up so nicely always helped by the fact Mr W was on hand
she stayed lovely and soft and we absolutely nailed the canter transitions so I went into the first test feeling much happier and more positive.
P15 was a lovely test, just a couple of wobbles, one of the downward canter transitions and a quiver on the first centre line, but once again my lovely little coblood, who has the best work ethic, listened to me and tried her heart out.
Next up was P19, this was the qualifier and it was our best test yet, it felt lovely, I was able to plan ahead and micro adjust where needed and I enjoyed every second
We won prelim 15 with 69.13% and were third with a whopping 71.84% in prelim 19. Comments were so positive and it makes such a difference
It is exactly one year since I rode CP for the first time and it has just been the most incredible journey. We have gone from this...

Next up was the lovely Trev.
First was N37 which is quite a big ask for a very large, baby! However he was great and tried very hard, did his usual party trick of popping in a lovely change
and finished 3rd with just under 66%, judges comment was serious horse for the future
Next was N39 and this was much better and again third with just under 71%
So lots more shiny points edging ever closer to securing his qualification at Open Novice.
Then it was Arthur's turn, he hasn't been out since the Winters where he was 5th at elementary
he has now stepped up to Medium. True to form, he was a prat
he refused to go round to the warm-up without being led, however once there he warmed up beautifully
On coming round to do his first test which was M69, he objected violently to the tractor harrowing the other arena whipped round so fast he nearly took me out - I swear I felt his whiskers touch my face
and very nearly deposited Mr W!
But and this is the difference with him now... where as before that would have upset him and it would have been curtains for the test, he sucked it up and 'forgot' and knuckled down.
Lovely test and delighted to win with just under 69%
Next test was M75, I and Mr W felt it was another really solid performance from him at this level. He is not an extravagant moving horse but he is uber correct, accurate, balanced and fills the eye.
He got 57% and I am still genuinely stunned...
At elementary he did a similar thing, judges either loved him and he got +70% or he got 63ish%
He has never had such a low score even when he has been a tit!
So disappointed for him and Mr W but that's the way it goes
sheet duly filed in the bin
Just one question... Can I go to bed yet?
