A delicate issue re family bereavement

I'm sure you're doing the right thing and also what your Mum would have wanted for him too, a safe but sad ending to what has been a happy eight years for them; he couldn't have asked more from you.
 
So very sorry to hear about the loss of your mum. :(

I'm sure she'd fully support your decision - having shared her life with Sammie for eight years, she would know exactly your reasons for your decision. Which is entirely the right one.
