I have my eye on one of our forum members rescue doggies, he's a 6 month old border terrier dog. We currently have a 14 month old pointer bitch in need of a playful companion - do you think they would get on???

we have just got a 5yr old entire male boxer to go with our 4yr old neutered female boxer. she can be very dominant with other dogs, but has accepted him relatively easily and they are now good friends.

Almost certainly they'll get on, probably VERY well, if you know what I mean. Suspect rescue dog is neutered so no problem. I've introduced a bitch puppy to my 2 year old dog (both terriers) and they get on really well, except for slight jealousy from the dog where I'm concerned - only he sits on my lap etc. However, in the past, I've introduced bitch to bitch with no problems. Also a neutered dog to bitches - he immediately fell in love with one of them. So you've probably got no problem, especially as both are young.

Thats good then. I'm 99.9% sure they would get on anyway, our bitch is mega friendly and very submissive. We have had a older bitch staying with us who gets along with Star but won't play with her - I really want her to have the right friend, as it's mainly for her why we want another!

Whhat?? you didn't tell me that?? I was just gonna keep him until he gets boring and non cute and then send him back....+ Star!! Isn't that how it works??

We have a 9 year old GSD who we neutered at 4 years old when we rescued him ourselves, also have a rottie thats just over a year old (bitch not fixed) he tries to get his wicked way with her when shes in season.

They still keep the full male urges etc when neutered later on

I have a 3 year old lurcher bitch and a 2 year old collie cross dog, both neutered, and they have the best fun. I've taught the collie to 'go get her' when we're out walking and as soon as I say it the lurcher goes all silly 'cos she knows she's going to get chased (her favourite!) and the collie chases her round and round until they're knackered.

I'd say go for it definately.

When Windsor was 5 we got a bitch and the pair of them got on great. He doted on her. We've now just got another bitch to keep Tina company now that Windsor is gone and so far she runs away from it! This big lab running away from a puppy. So funny!

Myself I'd be thinking more of the more of same sex upto you.

Even if the dogs had the chop he still want to mount her this could be a problem. Good Luck

We actually try not to re-home same sex...we always place a dog with a bitch vice versa, from the hundreds of dogs we re-home if we have had any returned for fighting it has always... bar non been same sex.
and everything we re-home is neutered...so we rarely get any fruity humping from our dogs

in my experience it is far more common to see fights/squabbles between same sex...normally bitches
