Advice need please, My pony was bitten badly by a dog, I rent from the owner of the dog.
My pony needs lots of veterinary treatment and the bill is on going at the moment. The land owners of the dog are not helping with costs towards the veterinary treatment my pony needs and I am not sure what to do the dog is not insured. Please can anyone give me some advice 🙏 🙂

You can claim for compensation but it will be drawn out and costly and if they don’t have any way to payout you could end up even more in a hole.

Thank you for your replies. I rent the dog owners land for my ponies to stay on, it was the land owners dog that bit my pony and they are saying to put it through my insurance as they don't have the dog insured. But if I do that my insurance company will know it was there dog that done it and I am worried that the dog will be pts and then I'll have to find another place for my ponies to go. It's all a mess.

Their dog won't have to be put to sleep.

Just hand the land owner the bills from your vet to pay and be prepared to move your pony as they will probably want rid.
You should report to the police 111 aswell incase the dog bites someone else, a visit from the community police might sharpen their mind to pay up but you're right its a mess you might need to move to avoid it happening again.

If the dog is aggressive being pts might not be a bad thing, although legally it wont be but any decent dog owner would be more responsible.

The dog has bitten people before and now my pony. The landowner say it's on his land so the dog has a right to be there it's just a misfortune that it happen.

The dog has history and the law has been changed so even if its on his ownnland the owner is still legally responsible for it and must answer for its actions.
Definitely one for the police now. They can issue a control order through the court where he must keep it muzzled or under control, fine him and even jail him if certain conditions not met.
Far too dangerous to let this go and hope the dog doesnt kill you or your pony next.

frankly if be moving the pony, ringing the police and reporting it and sending them a solicitors letter to pay the bills. A dog that bites people and animals is a danger no matter who’s land it is on and I would not give a fiddle about it being put down.
