Daisy is getting better at swimming so today we decided to risk taking her in a canoe down the Severn. Thankfully she loved it, enjoyed the rare privilege of being able to sit on our laps and somehow avoided tipping us up :D She went a bit crazy when we stopped on the bank for a snack and may have briefly acquired a scouts shoe but thankfully she gave it back before diving into the river :P Now to work on persuading the OHs mother that she needs a life jacket so we can take her out further :D

Brilliant pics, she is so adaptable :) My lot would have jumped overboard at the first duck :D

She's great, she didn't do much with the OHs mother so we're trying to make sure she does as many different things as possible in the hope that she might be a bit calmer in new situations when she goes back :) plus we like being out and about so she might as well come with!

Same, I would love to do it, but how do you stop water mad dog from diving off and spinning you round? Is it your own canoe?

Thankfully Daisy is small enough that on the odd occasion she decided that the water was a better place to be we just held on to her harness and she realised that that wasn't happening. The canoes are also very stable and pretty hard to tip (i used a to work at an outdoor centre and you really have to try to a top one) The canoe is from Wye Valley Canoes, they took us (and daisy) 8 miles up river and then we paddled back down :) We'd like to do some more open water stuff with her but that'd require a dog life jacket which we really can't justify! Lol
