LOL - we were just talking about this the other night and I was trying to justify to my new OH why my dogs are so damned spoilt
When I first had dogs, over twenty years ago, as an adult (ie not parents) my dogs were dogs, they stayed downstairs on the floor, no way were they allowed on any furniture or God forbid upstairs!
As time passed and new dogs came, eventually the sleeping on the sofa was allowed but never, ever upstairs.
More time has passed and my latest recruit Rosie sleeps on the settee, goes upstairs if I am and even (shock horror) sleeps on my bed
But its funny that from the three dogs I have now, the oldest never even attempts to get on the settee, the second oldest does and very occassionally comes upstairs when he is very excited and needs to tell me something whereas the third youngest appears to have the run of the house
Obviously I am slacking in my old age
