A dog's place is ON THE FLOOR

Those 3 words have just reduced me to a blubbering mess!! I lost Matty dog a year ago last March and still miss her so much. I talk to her every day. :( So thanks for that IaC!! :)

Oh, now you've set me off!

So often i'll be curled up on the sofa with my two upside down next to me and then i'll go to get my wine glass and see the photo of my last two beloved boys curled up on the same sofa and I just feel so guilty that they are no longer here to cuddle :(

Also keeperscottage, sorry but that did make me laugh - I still occasionally find the odd hair from my last too aswell on clothes or sofa cushions :(

i am SO glad there are like minded people on here that dont immediatly say ''eww thats disgusting'' !! My beautiful dalmatian sleeps in my bed with me every night ! i wouldnt change it for the world - i change my bed sheets regularly and dogs arnt as skanky as the horse poo/hair i get covered with every day !!! i LOVE cuddling my dog every night hes my bestest friend in the whole wide world !!!!!

Ah, life-threatening situations don't count ;) Glad she is better :)

Yes, ditto.
When our girl got hit by a car a few years ago, we weren't able to take her upstairs for the first few days, so I brought the matress downstairs and set the bed up in the lounge, so that me and my OH could take turns on night watch. Thankfully she made a full recovery in the end.

My dog's 'place' is wherever I tell him it is. Which happens to be keeping my tootsies warm on the sofa. Good grief, he's got to earn his keep somehow:D

Although I am a little disturbed by the unseemly haste with which he snuggles up to my blokey whenever I move...

It depends on who you talk to. If my OH, dog does on get on sofa or bed whatsoever.
If me, then the odd time doesn't matter. Such as this morning when I was upset and puppy found it to be his duty to come onto bed and snuggle up for comfort.

When he is allowed up, he generally doesn't stay up for long as he finds it too hot and tends to drift back onto the floor.

My older dog from day 1 was on my bed and on the sofa (not that my parents liked this). Her ability to jump up is what stopped her in the end.

Another whose dog is allowed where she pleases! As it happens I'm a restless sleeper so she doesn't like sleeping on my bed ha ha!!, but loves the spare bed where she snuggles down into an old Thermatex horse rug :)

The day I brought her home from the rescue centre, having shown her around, gone for a little walk and then fed her, sat down on sofa with cup of tea, she jumped straight up, put her head on my lap and went to sleep............while I sat there with tears in my eyes :)

Yes we're definately a 'lie where you like' house although I do bar them from upstairs while I'm out as they have access outside all day and my bed turns into an extension of the garden if I let them up. I love having them on the bed. One sleeps in his own bed but the other 4 snuggle in and it's lovely and comforting to have all my kids with me at night.

Those who do have them on the bed, what position do they sleep in? My big dogs lie either side so I'm a lurcher sandwich, the little one gets under the covers and lies by my feet and the collie lies on the pillow next to mine.

We don't have a choice, we have Italian greyhounds :p :p :p
