Whilst I am not overly unhappy with my current farrier he turns up more or less on time etc, its just the fact he's not open to naything new to help my horses feet.

My horse has ok feet but recently along with alot of others he has started to loose his shoes within a couple of weeks of being shod resulting in pulling of chunks of hoof with it.

I asked him what I could do to help him keep his shoes on etc, or was there something else I could use like Equicast etc to use in the short term, he was very dismissive and said he'll get a shoe on.

Well that's all very well but isn't solving the problem, so I am thinking its about time to change. So I am looking for a reliable , excellent farrier who is prepared to work with me to get his hooves back up to scratch.

So can anyone please recommend one.

Thanks in advance

Where about in Derbyshire are you?
My old farrier would turn up anything upto an hour late and then 3 weeks later my horse would loose a shoe.
I now have a great farrier and my shoes stay on for 8 weeks, and the shape of her feet are alot better.

PM me if you like as to whereabouts you are - but the chap i use is a lecturer in farriery and very good IMHO, thinks outside the box and doesn't cost a fortune!
