I am doing my first dressage test in 4 years in may, only a walk and trot, but still we've all got to start somewhere! I just had a little peek at the test today so I can really bang it into my brain before the day!
There are two movements that I am not 100% sure about so if someone could do me a massive favour and maybe do a line on a paint document to show me exactly where to go!

Right first movement is;
EX - half circle left 10 metres diameter
XB - half circle left 10 metres diameter

Second is;
AX - half circle right 20 metres diameter
XC - half circle right 20 metres diameter

I sort of know what they are but not 100% and I want to be 100% so I at least know what to aim for!

So any help welcomed :)

OOhh also ;) can I wear a black numnah? Does she have to be plaited? and can I wear tweed (I dont have black!) ?

thanks

My daughter is doing this soon to. She remembers these by calling them an s shape, 1st one is an s shape from e to b (e is at the top of the s and b is at the bottom) and the second one is just the other way round and bigger.

Or i like to say, do a 10m circle at e, but at the half way point do another 10m circle the other way, at the half way point carry on along the track.

At into level i think you are fine in a tweed and black numnah (although someone else may know more about that than me), and yes i think you need to plait.

Yes just as Pinkeeper describes - if you draw the test on a piece of paper the two movements in each case become an S shape.

Is the test affiliated or not? I think that has some bearing on attire and presentation.

Good luck I hope you both enjoy it

Good luck for your first test! :D Hope you enjoy it.

As others have said the two movements you describe are basically S shapes. X is an invisible marker, slap bang in the middle of the school (so exactly half way between A and C and also half way between B and E.

Sorry my computer doesn't have paint or else I would draw it for you! Basically when you get to E start to gradually curve off the the track until you reach X in the middle, try to go straight for a few steps along the centre line, then start to curve right so you return to the track at B.

The other movement is very similar but on a larger scale. Start on the right rein and imagine you are going to do a full 20m circle from A, but when you reach X, change your mind and circle left instead, to C.

Hopes this helps and isn't more confusing!

You can wear a black numnah. Horse doesn't need to be plaited, just neat and tidy (well presented!), and yes you can wear tweed.

Thanks so much to all 3 of you!
It all makes compleate sense, my brain is clear again!

Suze - its unaffiliated, but at a very large venue, that usually has a high standard of competition :S

Thanks, all I hope is that she behaves, we do all the right stuff at the right markers and get more than 50%.....thats not too much to ask is it?

Are you sure this is right? I've just checked the tests and it is actually -

Intro A
EX - half circle RIGHT 10 metres diameter
XB - half circle left 10 metres diameter

Intro B
AX - half circle right 20 metres diameter
XC - half circle LEFT 20 metres diameter

That would give u an S shape.

OO yes, just checked and you are right.....but I think everyone knew what I meant ;)
Also when I was looking at it earlier (trying to work it out) I was looking at the actual test not my (wrong) post!
Miss type :)
