10) Ponies are the cutest things on earth, second only to her own horse.
9) You must love her horse just as much, even if it wants you close only so it can eat you.
8) That time of the month + Grouchy Horse = Scary.
7) Five more minutes of riding is rarely ever five real minutes. Rather, in horse-land, time is defined by how irritating your horse is. This means 5 minutes can be 15 seconds or 5 hours.
6) Often, horse-time bleeds into real life, causing the girl to lose any ability to comprehend the real life flow of time.
5) She's going to be late because of this, deal with it.
4) No, She won't hurry up because you're sulking, the horse is more important.
3) Her horse is the most beautiful creature on earth, even when it is irritating and attempting to eat you, it's 'love nibbles'
2) If you are within 100km of her horse's stable, you must detour, no matter how inconvenient this may be.
1) Never, ever, under any circumstances, utter the words, "It's just a horse."
+1a) Never, ever, question the credit card purchases related to horse purchases. The horse can never have enough "supplies"....just in case!!

Love it Boltonrider! Especially your No 1 tip! But you forgot to add "Never, ever query a horse related item on the credit card bill eg but you bought 2 (3, 4, 5) rugs only 2 weeks ago???"

I have been married to a horsey person for 26 years. These and many other rules are engraved permanently in my mind.

You did forget one aspect of horsey time: "I'm just getting back" does not mean she will be home within the hour. It means she will be home when the horses / field / stable / dung heap / fences / electric tape are all done. This could be ten to twelve hours hence.

There are many...many others

Haha. This makes me smile as I am always saying to my OH "I'm just going up to the horses, I won't be long" to which he gives me an understanding smile and says "Oh well I'll see you tonight then"!

I have just shown this post to my husband - who is in total agreement with everything you've listed. He, in fact, is working on a range of clothing with "Not My Horse!" written on it. (Do you think he's trying to tell me something!!!)

Could he do me one with "Not My Horses" on the front and "but I still b*&^dy pay for them" on the back please.

Brilliant list. Please distribute it to all the horse widdowers and future OHs out there.

It needs to form the basis of every pre-nup contract! Can you imagine... will you marry me... yes of course darling, you just need to sign here and fill in your credit card details on the back....

Oh, and you forgot the clause "if you are jealous and want to spend more time with me, I need to do less poo picking and mucking out, so you must make yourself available at a moments notice to do the dirty jobs at the yard, and woe betide you if you have a useful skill like carpentry, you will be fixing my fences for all eternity...

p.s. if the stable isn't mucked out to my satisfaction by the time I arrive at the yard you can have the couch tonight"

(Is there a reason I'm single???)

Oh, and don't forget

"never, ever, EVER comment on my riding. If you overhear my instructor or comments when I'm competing, keep them to yourself. They become invalid if you speak them."

HEHE, how true!!! Last night I called to say I was just finished and would be home for dinner in 30 mins - I left the YARD 30 mins later!!!! But freakily he must have known as I stepped in the door at the exact moment he got dinner out the oven!

But then again - he did offer to go back to the yard with me (IN THE FREEZING COLD) as I hadn't ridden before and so if I did want to he would come with me. :O

Tis a hard life we lead......
Is there a solution to keeping em 100% happy???
I thought not...

Fortunately I can correctly do it all..... I think!>!>! This must put me in the good books surely??

Although, when he's in the stable, the additional talking time, does increase the muck out...by another hour or so!! Many times as this been questioned by lasses on the yard.... followed by...."I'm sure your horse understands what your saying".....
