I thought it probably best to just make one thread then do post after post cus that could get annoying. I'm buying my first horse and have never had to deal with most of this stuff with my share horse so any advice appreciated.

So...

Does anybody know of any good, cheapish, LOW RISE breeches/jods? Waistbands bug me if they are right on my stomach so low rise essential seems to be the way forward.

Who is the best company to freeze mark with?

How do you know what size stirrup leathers you need? Same with stirrup irons?

How do you find out which girth size is needed? special way to measure?

All I can think of at mo. Sure there will be more questions though! Thanks

(1)Neddys off Ebay- wash beautifully, thick but cool and stretchy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Neddy...ds_Equestrian_Clothing_MJ&hash=item45fbd4144a
(2)Freezemark although Farmkey ok aswell
(3)most ladies of average height would take 54-56" leathers
(4)stirrups- need to fit a finger either side of your boot for safety- again an average size for a lady (say 4-7 foot size) would be 4.5" (internal measurement)
(5) ideally borrow a couple to try as this is extremely variable due to the unknown length of saddle flap eg Dex is a 48" with an albion but 52" with a stubben saddle..do measure the girth as the entire length including the buckles. If the one you borrow is an uneven length then its stretched so go down a size..

Ask away :)

DDD you are a star thank you very much! I forgot to put my height for the stirrup leathers! I'm 5'7 with long legs would 54-56'' still be ok?

Was just about to do a thread asking about stirrup irons and leathers so thanks :)

What size stirrup leather would you say for a shortie? I'm 5 ft :p

For you i would go for 56-58" and probably 4 3/4" stirrups

For Lauren, i would try 52-54" with a 4 1/4 or 1/2" stirrup :)

I'm a semi retired Master Saddler so always happy to help if i can :)

Ask the saddler to bring some girths thats what I did.
Same with stirup leathers I just had to put some more holes in for jumping as I'm a short ass

DDD thank you so much. Dafthoss I didn't even think of asking them to bring girths and stirrup leathers but it makes sense! Thank you.
