I am hoping to take our recently aquired 18 yr old anglo arab to a ridden veteran class in january and was wondering what you guys wear? I was thinking hacking jacket, shirt and tie, cream jods and long black boots OR dark blue jacket, coloured stock and the same after. For Fiazel i was going with brown bridle with simple hanging cheek bit and pretty browband, brown saddle no numnah. Is there anything the judges in these classes likes to see? Do's and don'ts? Any suggestions? I would be vvvv greatful if any of you have pics of u and your neds in a veteran show. I've only ever done M&M ridden before!!! Thanks

Our cob will be 23 next season, and we stay with the traditional cob style attire - ie. tweed, flat bridle etc. TBH I know nothing about arab showing, but I would look on the VHS website for dress codes. You may be able to stick with the arab style which would show off your horse in the correct way.

Hope this makes sense. x

For veteran classes you turn out for what you have - eg hunters as per hunter turnout, cobs as per cob turn out.

M&M's you turn out as for an M & M class (ie you dont plait just because its a veteran class) I have seen a Friesan at regional level turnout out traditionally. So it depends on your horse.

Rule book is on VHS website and this covers everything - though be careful - its the 2009 rule book so if you refer to this make sure you check out if the 2010 rule book is released before your class.

feel free to PM me if you need any other help

I show my part bred arab in VHS classes and i wear what would be correct in a riding horse class. i.e tweed Jacket, shirt and tie, canary breeches and black leather long boots. When doing your individual show the judges don't like to see anything too fancy i.e flying changes etc. They usually just like a nice, simple, forward show with the horse looking keen and happy to be out. Good luck and hope you have a lovely time!

I used to show my part bred arab in VHS classes, wearing what you describe. Here is a pic of her at Addington when she was 19.
