They really helped Robin. Only for as long as they were up......We used to joke that we would have to bribe any course designer that they needed to do that at every jump. It wasn’t so much the placing pole that helped as he would perfectly good at the striding. But he could knock with his back feet which the v helped with.

I don’t think they’re a particularly controversial concept?
Useful for a horse that you want to get up a bit more in front, though I personally wouldn’t use them quite so close together and above the line of the pole as I think it is hard for a horse to sight and isn’t really necessary
