I'm looking for a good non slip saddle pad, similar to a limpet pad - any suggestions? Almost bought a limpet yesterday as found a website that sold them for less than I could have got directly from the manufacturers, only to be emailed (once payment had gone through...) that they were no longer stocking them

As much as I like them (am using friends at the moment) I cannot justify spending more money than necessary! Is there a brand called Impact? Are they any good?
Thankies

I know, they are so good once you get used to them... I just cant afford the extra £12 the manufacturers want (on student budget

)Its soooo annoying!

I have an impact saddle shape pad - very good for hunting - long days in saddle etc
I really like the Gel-Eze they are clear see through and wash clean having been dunked in water. BRILLIANT!

I've had a few but tbh, Ian Van De Burgh recommended using the anti slip stuff you put under floor rugs!!

I bought a huge roll of it for about £2.50 cut it to shape and it's been fab!!! If it starts to get a bit dog eared I just chuck it and cut a nice new fresh piece!

George is very wide, round and has no withers so he's a good test example

Another cheap but effective alternative is a piece of chamois leather (cost from £2 to £12 depending on size) - you can get some good ones online or just go to a car place and buy one.

Just a warning about the limpet - I've put one on four different horses and all HATED it - ranging from not going forward to full on broncing, rearing and tanking off. Bloody awful things, I'd steer well clear

Really Snow_pony? How awful, poor horses

Have only ever used the limpet on my horse who is quite laid back, I can see why some horses would hate them. However I need a non slip pad as he is a wide and round as a barrel and so far (touch wood) he's gone much better in the limpet and (touches wood agin) we've not had any probs.

Rowreach - what a fab suggestion, my OH will probably have one lying around so will have a play.

Thanks for everyones opinions so far will try things out before buying a pad now
