Went to BSJA at Quob on wednesday, did the British Novice and can honestly say it was the best ride of my life! Rocks jumped beautifully, confidently (which is the most important) was a lot bolder and braver and met every jump except one on the perfect stride. The jump he didnt meet well he had down, and that was completely my fault, as coming off the corner i lost my line and couldnt see a stride and held for one that wasnt there, but was so so chuffed.
Then today went to the BSJA at Medstead, also did the British Novice. Beautifully built course (same builder as wednesday) and a really bold inviting course, rocks jumped brilliantly but was a bit more cautious today and at a few jumps chipped in an extra little stride when he should have taken off. Went clear in the first round so straight into timed round, jumped out of his skin then came round to a double (which he had already jumped in the first round) and at the last minute he ran out - have no idea why!! Watched it over on the tape and it realy was just a bugger moment lol no reason for it but hes allowed an off day!
So all in all im really chuffed with my little lad!!
Sorry self indulgent

yeah he is, im trying not to rush him though, i know it may take longer but hes the first baby i've produced and hes a precious soul bless him. Longterm plan is to do a bit of eventing with him, this year im sticking to unaffiliated and riding club eventing though and maybe do a BE event on a ticket towards the end of the season depending on how he goes, then do lots of BSJA and try and improve that.
