I have had the best weekend! we went (me, OH and pony) to Elveden (East Anglia) for a 2 day carriage driving competition. We left on friday lunchtime, and had a fairly good trip, it takes a little longer in the horsebox!
Arrived about half 4, got donovan sorted in his stabling, and then had a look around. The obstacles were all pretty close, so had a quick wander round them, then went fr a drive over by the dressage arena.
Saturday morning, it was time for plaiting! I have decided plaiting is not my forte, but we had a go! Now my instructor had said to me it was about time I got myself into the novice class, so we had a go! dressage test was alot harder, with extended and collected trot, things we have practiced, but its a working progress!
The test itself went well, had a couple of iffy moments, but nothing too drastic! There was a techical talk at half 5 to set us up for the marathon, and to get our rosettes for dressage. Now with 13 in the class, and our first novice, I expected maybe 10th? We got 6th!! 6th!!!! I was amazed, and really really chuffed! we had also done the cones, but had knocked one down, my fault, it was number 19 out of 20, and I think I was just thinking, we have done it, and lost a bit of concentration! So, all scores added up, we were in 8th position overnight!
Sunday morning, another walk of the obstacles, we were on at 10.14am, and it al went well! The first part of the marathon is a timed drive, we were abit quick through the start of it, so the last km we walked alot of it, and arrived in the right time window.
Then onto the exciting bit of the whole event! The obstacles!! Its our 3rd outdoor event, the first one we just trotted the obstacles, and we really were too slow. but this time, we were like **** off a shovel!! Bless my pony, he put every ounce of his being into it, and done us proud.
trip home took around 4 hours, OH has too drive as I cant be insured on the lorry, so I got a good sleep!
Looking at the results last night, I had come 3rd in the marathon, which moved us up to 7th for the whole competition!
Sorry, no pictures, there was only us 2 there this time and when you are both on the carriage, its tricky to have a camera!!!

Well done, that's a great result. He really has come on with all your hard work and determination. I've always had a fascination for driving ever since my sister did a little with the RDA when she was younger. It's definitely on the bucket list. Good luck for your next outing. :) x
