When i first met you, i could tell instantly you were THE BOSS. Not just of your herd, but you certainly kept the cows in line too!
Over the years i learnt your story, how you were turned away by Monty Roberts who said "you can't win 'em all" after a demonstration through which you bucked and reared.
After being one of the only horses Mossburn has ever paid for, we discovered what a terrible state your back and teeth were in.
It took a hell of a lot of work, time, patience and love to turn you into what you became.
And that was a wonderful, gentle, kind horse, who would try anything, all be it in a very excited state resulting in more than a few riders on the floor.
Yes you bucked, pushed, ocasionally nipped, but it was never meant in anything other than a playful, over-excited Jasper way.

I was so excited to go back to Mossburn after 4 months away, greeted by the familiar sight of all you horses tucking in to breakfast, and turned into big fluffy monsters

The only give away that anything was wrong was the big purple bandage on your foot, and the fact you were holding it off the ground.

Your recurring foot problems meant i didn't really think much of it, last week your poultice had come off with nothing on it, and we hoped it was getting better.
That morning though, the vet came and your poultice was filled with yucky pus.

After weeks of this, you couldn't bear any weight on this leg, and you most likely had a bone infection way up in your leg.
We could have travelled you to Glasgow, where we sent you all those years ago to have your teeth sorted, but we know you would have hated that, and as much as you are worth to us, it would have been an awful lot of money for a slim chance of success and a lot of stress for you, being away from your girls.

Of course being male, you had very bad timing, and our xmas eve became a time to say goodbye.

I know you're pain free now, and reunited with Maddie.
I hope you are both running free and happy.

RIP little man this video doesn't do you justice, but i hope it shows what an amazing pony you were.

Thanks guys.
It was kinda all of a sudden at the time, and i'm not one for crying, but writing that and looking at the pictures is making me all teary.
He might not have been particularly great at anything, but he returned all the love you gave him, and i'm just glad we could give him a happier last half of his life

That was lovely - he looks such a character. The typical grey made me smile - I've had 2 and they both loved mud too!
He would have been proud to see such a tribute!
