Just an update on Stanley the BT. He'll be 7 months very soon, he's been neutered and is growing into the most delightful dog. He is super friendly with people and other dogs but he's learning more control and usually doesn't jump up. His recall for a terrier is actually really good. I have used a long line with him which has helped to reinforce things and I feel that being neutered is calming him down so he listens more. We met a new "friend" this morning, they had a good play together but when I walked away and called him, he came immediately and I am starting to feel much more confident that I have control over him. When there are no other dogs around, he stays pretty close, checks regularly to see where I am and will wait, will do sit/stays really well with me at a distance, I can even walk round behind him! He continues to be such an easy dog to have around, loves his walks and will bring his toys when he wants a play but will settle in front of the aga and chill. I wish I could post a pic because he's such a handsome little chap (well I think he is) and he is my best buddy. He is definitely the best thing about 2017!

I am so pleased that Stan is your best thing. He is a gorgeous boy, I remember from the video.
Pen was our dog of 2017, and out shooting last week I caved and sent her for a freshly shot hen pheasant, she bought it back beautifully, (even the right way up so she could see!) and delivered to hand, so Pen is my 2017 best thing. :-)

tommy my terrier is great fun, he is now 9 1/2 months and is getting more obedient every day. recall is a work in progress. he is fine unless he sees another dog, if he has a few moments to greet and play he will then come to call, so getting there. glad stan is being a good boy

That's lovely Oldie48, he really sounds like he is coming along and i'm so glad he's your mate:)
Losing my Weim Loki was my worst thing of 2017 but getting my second one was my best thing by far :) he is turning into the most wonderful , loyal dog and is as affectionate and funny as the last one but with a teeny bit more wits about him. I was so chuffed with him today as a deer ran past the stables and he took off after it but as soon as i shouted he stopped and came back. BIG hugs and some treats for that one!!! I love walking him too, my last one was fear aggressive and despite all my efforts he couldn't be trusted with strange dogs , this one is a joy and walks to heel on or off the lead. I love him to bits:o

Where are the update photos?? Come on!

Yes indeed, definitely photos required.

I have a Button woof, who is my inspirational pooch of 2017. Came through cruciate ligament surgery all guns blazing, despite my initial misgivings. Just when we thought life was totally back to normal, 3 weeks ago she's has a stroke (well, a vestibular attack thingy). Within 3 days, it was like it had never happened - totally back to normal. Tough old bird this dog!

The mantra in this house at the moment is "be more Button" and live in the moment.
