A hat for XC?

Hey,

Well I am in desperate need of a new hat.
I would like it to be a skull cap because i will be doing alot of XC next year.
I would like it to be low profile because i have a slightly bigger head,
any recommendations?

Best thing you can do is go to a shop that has someone who is properly trained to fit hats and that has a wide selection and get one fitted. They all vary in shape and until you try them on you wont know what fits best. No point having one that looks fancy and is in trend if it doesnt fit properly. I have the Champion Ventair skull cap, but that is the one that fits my head best, I tried on about 10 different styles of hats and in varying sizes before I found that one.

Yes I am aware :), I just want to know some brands and names of hats so i can ask to try them.
Last time i was in there i asked for a hat, and they gave me a Charles Owen Junior which makes my head look MASSIVE, but bought it anyway (see below). I had no recomendations when going in that time.

And a slight rant - i asked for a low profile showjumping hat, they said they didnt have any at the time and were not ordering any for a while. So i bought the egghead one. The day after (literally) they were advertizing a low profile hat (the fiona hat), so i was peeved. :mad:
 
I have the Charles Owen for XC and it's been fine, plus it's cheaper than many others. I have the Champion Ventair fixed peaked for SJing though and, if i were to buy another hat for XC I think i will probably go for the Champion Ventair skull.
 
Ive got the Charles Owen Adventura. Love it as fits well, feels secure light and breathable and you can take out the padding inside and bung in washing machine so no more smelly hats! :D have also had a very nasty fall in it (massive blow to my head on road) which i am convinced it saved my life. Needless to say i bought another one :)
The champion ones are smart but i didnt feel it offered enough protection, felt perched. I do like the Gatehouse ones tho :)
