I hope the link will work -

I was in shock when I saw this email from horsemart and thought the Headline 'A horse for Christmas, why not?' was sarcastic, unfortunately it wasn't.

Does anyone else think that this kind of advert is incredibly irresponsible??

Incase the link doesn't work -

We want to provide you with the best deals that are around this Winter. For those daughters who are constantly begging for a horse, or for the longing you have always had, maybe now your wish could come true.

Below there are 3 examples of horses for sales under the price of £500! If these horses are not what you are looking for then there are plenty more here.

The horse adverts that were then listed below were a 2yr old cob, a 6 month old welshie and another 2 yr old.. So are they really trying to tell people to go out a buy their potentially completely novice children a 6 month old pony for xmas????

Sorry for the rant but I just couldn't believe the ad!

Agree, totally irresponsible :-( It's bad enough when some places an advert saying 'ideal Christmas Present' let alone the rag itself advertising such... must be able to complain somewhere about it ??

I got the same e-mail and replied with my disgust, not had a reply from them.

I will be doing the same but doubted I would have any response!

Jojoeena - you would presume so, but I don't know who would actually be interested in the complaint.

Replying is unlikely to help as it will probably have come from an automated email address.

Contact them through Facebook or Twitter, or their official contact systems.

I agree this is disgraceful - one thing to suggest buying a horse for Christmas, but quite another to actively encourage parents to give into begging children and buy a cheap pony, without considering suitability or even whether they are in a position to own a horse!

Agree, totally irresponsible!!!

It is no wonder there are so many neglected and abandoned horses when this sort of behaviour is encouraged!! Nothing about the ongoing costs of keeping a horse!!!

They seriously need to sack their advertising team!!!!

Dreadful - why don't they make it worse and tell them to breed unwanted foals too?? Sadly it's no more than i would expect from horsesmart at the moment aka safe place to be a dealer and pretend to be a private seller:(
