This is my yearling kwpn colt as a foal!

I am thinking of selling him as I need to raise funds to buy a 4 y/o stallion that I have fallen in love with!!

He is Numero Uno X Aldato

(By Welsh contingent I mean his clients in Wales, all 15 of us!)

Get some fantastic pics and try him on horsemart.. I have successfully sold all the youngsters via there and had literally dozens of enquiries for the one that got injured the week it was advertised.
You don't need to use the mag part of the ad just the website.
I would try him at £5000 and then adjust the price after a week or two.

I'm not surprised he was more than that as foal!! Thing is, you always get more for foals and recently broken youngsters, than you do for yrlngs and 2yos. He looks awesome - even if the pic if TINY!!!

Do you have any photo's of him as a yearling? Also unless he has won some breed premiums or prizes or something else to distinguish him as a potential future stallion I can't see him being worth much over £4k IMO.

god how much is numero uno stud fee then x

its 1500 euro's, we were thinking of using him on our Gentleman X Iroko star mare, as her 1/2 sister (same dam) is by Numero Uno and was champion Foal of the Central Keuring and in the top ten at the National Keuring in Holland.

They are the same agents for Coolcorron Cool Diamond my foals gr sire, odd though that they show KOD's dam as unknown because she is listed as being Ruby by True Boy ex Biddens TB. Noticed the photo of yearling is shown on Numero Uno's details. Who is the 4yo that you covert so? Are you not interested to see if your yearling makes the grade?

if he was mine and he moved well I'd want at least 6k, however getting it is another thing. The thing is people want to buy them for next to nothing and by the time you've paid stud and vet fees (especially if it's imported semen) the foal can have cost you thousands before it's born. He looks very smart in the photo. Is he in your opinion stallion material? His value would also depend on the dam line.

He is maturing into definite candidate for grading as a stallion.. he moves well, and jumps very well indeed! His dam line is proven..

Magic.. the stallion is the one that I am riding for Emile at the preparing to win seminar! I would LOVE to keep Boss but its so long to wait, and this other horse is a one off IMO.. I wouldnt use him to breed from just to compete!

Maybe Im just dreaming!

How many shares do you have to sell? A syndicate for a future stallion could be the way to go. I was informed earlier this year that the best time to sell is either as a foal or when they come under saddle.

Yep, Des says that, if you don't sell them as a foal they're with you until they're 3y.o's!

MatB If the stud fee was £1050 and going by our AI packages its about £600.00 how did he cost more than 5k to get on the ground as a foal?

i didnt breed him he was bought from an auction in holland

Ahhh that explains it. Personally think it would 'pay' to keep him until he's a 3y.o if he's grading material, grade him, get him going nicely under saddle (which of course you can do) and then get proper dosh for him. Any other way you could get the 4y.o (I think it was a 4y.o you said) you want?

I agree with the other posts on here that have said if you can keep him and back him, then I think you would get much more for him than you will as a yearling. A lot of people are put off buying a yearling because in my opinion it is a very strange time for them as they look completely different as three year olds etc and move differently too. I know a yearling who was just strange looking as a yearling and has turned into a very beautiful three year old, and a stunning yearling who turned into an average three year old

Is the stallion you want for sale?

Mat it depends on the market. Because Numero Uno semen is not always been the best his stock can be saught after. I sold a yearling by Numero Uno this year and he was not for sale. He was a colt and a yearling and we were phoned out of the blue as a lady had seen him on our website.

i agree, its very hard to sell yearlings, i had two stunning well bred colts, lovely youngsters, but nobody wanted them, they have great homes now, but it took nearly a year and i sold them very cheap, got£2500 for the two of them. your colt looks lovely, and would be worth 2-2.5k all day long if you get the right person wanting him. good luck
