This is the advert for a horse I know that a friend of mine is interested in.

Now having read that I actually believe the horse is worth nearer 2000 as she is only 14.2 to 15 at the mo. I know Ghareeb stands in Ireland at a smallish stud so not too well known, the horse's mother is by a good eventing stallion and her grandmother was a good eventer but IMO no one would pay 4000 for an unbroken small 3 y o. Owner has come back to my friend and said 2500 to cover cost of covering, transport of mare back from Ireland and fees incurred while at the livery yard where she is now, which is where I used to be. Now in my estimation covering fee would be about 500, transport from Ireland (well he's Irish so probably got a good deal and it cost me 300 pounds to get my horse to Ireland but only 150 euros to get him back with a friend of a friend) so 200 for safety sake and three months livery at 117 a month makes around 1050. Do you think that to stick to our offer of 2000 would be right and walk away if he doesn't take it. My friend has fallen in love with her so am trying to be sensible here.

Must be thick but can't quite understand this.
Are you talking about buying this filly or sending a mare over there to be covered by the stallion cos why would you need livery else?

Ghareeb is an up and coming event sire and his stock are pretty hot property at the mo and are selling well for eventing.

Personally despite the fact that the mare is small, I think to offer as little as £2000 is a insult, particularly when you consider that the top eventers absolutely swoon for Master Imp horses and pay top bucks for them. I would offer £3k.... but of course this depends on how well is the mare put together? How does she move? Whats her temp like?

Sorry MFH bit garbled. My friend is interested in buying filly and the owner gave those reasons for price.
DTD - Had tried to find Ghareeb on web but no luck. Filly is small, moves well enough, a little bit weak looking at mo, she came to the yard for handling as was completely wild she is better now. Just at her current height I don't think she'll mature any higher than 15.1 maybe 15.2. She'd be perfect for my friend but then she wont do too much high level stuff on her anyway. I know he's tried to sell her before with no luck and as he advertised her at 4000 on Thursday and is already willing to take 2500 for her today then he mustn't be getting too many phone calls. They tried to sell her to some showing people a couple of weeks ago but they said no, to weak and expensive.
