A how much please - very grateful for any honest opinion - no offence

Ask 4k. A friend brought an Ex racer as a "bargain" (and he is!) at 3.5k because he was so laid back and easy to do, but he had done next to nothing. Put him at 4k as he is a true allrounder.

To be honest MagicMelon - we are not in a hurry to sell him and have now worries about paying to advertise him as I work in publishing and have a large number papers across the northwest where I can get free advertising.

Believe it or not this was a genuine query from a non horsey mum!

Thanks everyone for your advice. As we are no hurry to sell him - we will probably put him on nearer the top end of the market and see what happens. We can always negotiate.

He is a lovely boy - but just not quite right for my daughter. She thinks he will make a great eventer - which is not really what she wants to do.

I would say around £3000 - £3500 all in, esp if he is up to date with his vacs, teeth etc. Without the cribbing poss higher. People often forget abot the price of the acompanying warbrobe and vaccs etc. I would also try to push any prospective buyer into having the made to measure saddle. too many peole say - oh I have a saddle that will fit - says who, I would hate to think of a horse that was mine (or had been mine) being messed up through an ill fitting sadle - grrr
