I have said to my stepmum that i will try and sell Fred for her, but we are at a loss for the price, so some help would be appreciated:

Reson for sale, he is my stepmums hunter and they just don't click, no reason but she only rides him once or twice a week to hunt so wants something a little sharper and a little littler!!

he is 17.1Hh 7 yo ISH has hunted 2 and a bit full seasons with the Bedale, he is used as a hirling on a wednesday on occasion.

He is fab to hack out will go first and last, Will jump anything, is kept at hunt livery so is happy with any rider etc. Never daft or out of control.

He doesn't pull and is ridden in a snaffle good to box shoe etc. huge horse with great manners.

Hasn't done much elseas he is a hunter a couple of hunter trials and can go in an outline in a school, will do show jumps etc. would do a ODE without a massive amount of trouble.

so prices please (eeekk big pic sorry)

Photo on my comp is not working, but on the back of the description, it sounds like he is a fab sane hunter, which are always worth their weight in gold.

Personally, I would recommend that she keep him for the summer, work on his schooling and get him hunting fit and then sell him in the autum with a big ad in horse and hound as a premade hunting machine for around £7,000 to £8,000. I know that seems a lot but people will pay a decent amount for a good, strong, made hunter. I certainly know people that have paid a lot more.

He sounds fantastic- can I have him for free please???

I am sure you won't have any problem selling him. As op said, good sensible hunters are hard to find. No idea about price though I am afraid.

I agree. Hold onto him until late summer, have him super fit, clipped out and ready to go, put a big picture advert in H&H jumping a decent hedge/fence out hunting or cross country and name your price!! I'd of thought £8k would be fair price but I've seen ready made hunters for ten plus...! This time of year you'd be talking more like £6k as a eventer for next season I would of thought.

yup i agree with the others, more will be gained if he is kept and imrpoved a little bit further until end of the summer.

If I had the money id be jumping up going ME PICK ME!!! hes beautiful!

Cool you are all great, it is strange my SM has found the horse she wants to buy and only needs to get enough to buy her so she just wants to cover her outlay of £4500 - i've not advertised him yet but i have a lady coming to see him this weekend through word of mouth, do you think she'll think he's too cheap? I don't want people thinking there is something wrong with him!

Hunters are being sold t this time of year... if I had a few quid for every person I had ringing about my chap to hunt with, even though I never even mentioned hunting!!!!!
