A 'how much?' thread...

Are you sure that the buyer can actually afford to buy this horse?

In terms of what has gone on, as the seller you need to decide what it is you want to do. In terms of waiting for payment - you actually sound that you have been far more reasonable than most people in waiting for payment.

If she has been paying instalments and recently too after all the vet involvement then in part that is agreeing to a sales value - have you been issuing a receipt for these?

The value negotiation surely went ahead prior to any form of instalment plan.
i think the seller has been reasonable, I would not enter into any form of instalment plan on the sale of a horse.

Hope it gets sorted for both of you.

Ok, wow. Didn't realise this was still going on as annaellie and I have been talking offline.

Fwiw, I really didn't think that I'd written anything on here that I haven't already said to the seller, and as mentioned, I needed some views that were unemotional.

Not going to comment on the value of this horse, would just like to say that both of sound like nice reasonable people. And which ever one of you keeps the horse he is very lucky.

I'd say worth nothing really, a tricky unsound ex racer, sorry but you can pick sane, sound ones up cheapy from the right folk or the sales, thing is it costs more to a TB than it does to actually buy one these days, so if you are paying for one why pay for issues that you may not be able to iron out.

I'm all for folk giving a tricky horse a chance and all but I wouldn't be paying for the pleasure, I'd either want it given or agree to have it on free loan, or they'd have to pay me for riding and looking after it for them, otherwise I'd rather buy one that has less complications.

But from not knowing the horse or all the details, the above is easy to say, it could be that this horse just needs a few things to go his way, more time etc and he could actually be a great horse for someone, in which case he will have a value from an owners point of view.

Just like to say thank you for all your replies and to update I've agreed to drop the price for horses sake so hopefully on Monday he will be fully nyfains horse
