Someone has asked me to school her horse for her and to give her some lessons... she's currently coming sort of very near the bottom at unaffiliated prelims and just wants to eventually be able to place at novice unaffiliated and do some showing without disgracing herself!

Shes asked me how much I would charge and I have no idea!

I'm 17 and only have my stage 2 riding and horse care, I'm going to do my stage 3 in Sept and my PTT as soon as I can next year... I've intermediate evented, showjumped to 1m25/1m30 and produced my old pony from prelim/novice to medium...

I'm not expecting that I should charge alot just don't want to rip either of us off..! So if you were in her situation how much would you expect to pay?

Sorry to be a pain I'm just completely clueless!

Hmmm.....a professional travelling depending on experience would charge roughly 20-30 ish I expect per session. I would say start at that sort of price, but be willing to go down to 12 -15 p/h? Does that seem reasonable? I would say charge the same for exercising and lessons, both of which would be say 45minutes?

I would be happy to get a tenner for each, but depends if you have to travel....

thanks I had sorta had a figure of 10 in my mind... I won't have to travel, she keep sher horse nextdoor and was going to bring him over

Thanks!

I think £10 would be very reasonable £15 I think would also be acceptable - sometime if you charge less you get more work and more money than if you charge more and only get a small amount of work!

I think as you are just starting out teaching then it is useful to get some practice in for your PTT as well so good for both of you!
