Just wanted to say thank you to all of you!

Posted about 6 weeks ago about whether I should sell my horse who I had owned for 2 years but wasn't enjoying because of my nerves.

i had been told that I wouldn't find a safer horse, so either sell and give up or persevere with him.

well general consensus here was sell but don't give up! I did exactly that. Sold my horse very quickly to a lovely home by the sea. While checking my advert had gone onto website flicked through the horses for sale (something I never let myself do!)

saw a lovely 14.1 hh highland pony for sale that had done a bit of everything. 15 years old and still on the same yard he was broken in on 12 years before! 2previous owners, went to see him and bought him!

He is wonderful, I've even done two farm rides on him, something I never did on my last horse!

Just wanted to to say thank you, I wouldn't have ever bought another horse if it wasn't for you lot and I would have missed out on all the fun I am having now xx

How lovely, it all worked out in the end. Have fun with your new horse and enjoy every minute with him. x

fantastic!! I think I was one that said you need the right horse as it is exactly what I have done. So glad that you are having such fun now

but you are really naughty for not providing photos!!

Thats a great result. Its so nice to hear that things have worked out for the best. But I am another who needs to see a picture, Highlands are my favourite breed. How selfish not to share!:)

Ha ha, have just tried to upload some very bad photos of him, but failed! He isn't a registered highland, so haven't a clue of his breeding- not bothered, just that he can easily carry my weight and my 5'9" height seems to be totally absorbed!!
Didn't ever think I would go back to ponies- but am loving it :))

congratulations! That is brilliant news - and so pleased about the farm rides too - you really know you've got the right horse when you can do that!! :)

Ha Ha, wonderful news.

I knew I replied to your original post so I looked it up

"I sometimes find a horse that I do not feel comfortable on even though they behave perfectly. I also know horses who are absolute *********s (very naughty horsies) who I feel very comfortable on and who I can just laugh at and enjoy.

It is a very personal thing.

I would see how it goes with the training, but if you feel the same I would sell and see if you can find one that you enjoy even in his less than perfect moments.

It is all meant to be fun.........! "

I am so happy it worked out, and thank you for updating us. Not least because sometimes you fire off well meaning advice on a forum and wonder how it all turned out.

It is lovely.

:-)
