OK so this barely qualifies as CR but I don't think they'll see it elsewhere!

They can now share the award for Nicest HHO'er. FJ alerted me to an open schooling session at our nearby Equestrian Centre (SNEC, with two huge indoor schools). She then bullied/persuaded me to take both my horses and promised that both she and FC would be there to help. Bear in mind I've never taken the two of them anywhere together (they are rather annoyingly bonded); have ridden the "sensible" one twice in 6 weeks. Oh and the young one hasn't been ridden in - ummmm - 18 months, due to various injuries, weather, car fails, trailer fails, lack of arenas and lots of other scaredy-cat excuses!

Basically the pair of them tacked up, untacked, legged up, groomed, washed down, hung on, comforted, reprimanded, chivvied, loaded, unloaded and acted like all round superstars, whilst I ambled up and got on :p:). Well not quite but I was finding it a bit stressful thinking about getting on the baby, not least as the two charming mares did a good line in distraught separation anxiety, and both made some interesting shapes both in the trailer and the arena  FJ and FC gave the perfect amount of encouragement and calmness to the whole thing.

Anyway FC drew the short straw and was on the end of the lunge line as I got back on after the said 18 month break. Little pony was pretty much ,a star -apart from terrifying us all by first shaking like a Labrador with me on board, full body style, making us all think she was about to explode. And then nearly rolling before I got off!. In her defence she's very hairy, she got quite sweaty, and was VERY VERY itchy! Anyway it was all very successful so a massive thanks to the pair of them, and I hope they now realise they are on duty for months to come :p

Waffly pointless post over. I did take the Flip but "forgot" to tell them ;) so no pics or vid. Which is maybe just as well :D

You are very welcome- should we thank you (and the girls) in return for the entertainment?! :p :D Seriously though, for such a long time off (HB) and having to deal with such trauma (M- being taken to the "lions den" and leaving her buddy behind!) they were both pretty respectable and you did great. :)

A big well done to you though, firstly for mustering up the enthusiasm to trek to SNEC late at night in the dark with both of them and also for getting on them both and kickstarting your 2011 properly. :)

Thanks to FlyingCoo for being there as she is waaaaay more experienced with baby horses and did a grand job making sure HB and you were happy. :)

Here's to a nice, fun and busy 2011 for you and both girls- watch out 'cos if I don't have my own schedule to plan, I'll need to plan your's instead...!

We shall search the vehicle for camera next time...! ;)

Applestroodle- I already have her dragged along tomorrow, so you will have to shout at each other on the way in/out of your lessons as you are one after the other. :)

NLM - If you want your revenge on Figjam you can bully her in the same way in a few weeks as she is having a ST Gatherer lesson on my pony at Brechin, Lol

:)Haha FJ more than happy for you to plan for me, that's the bit I'm rubbish about. A bit of bullying to get me going is exactly what I need. It's especially effective when you've promised people you'll meet them there, much harder to back down :o Although getting to bed at midnight was a bit of a shock, thank god I was working from home today!

Applestroodle, yip will be there with a fluffy fat sweaty ginger monkey! Hopefully she'll be a bit nicer tomorrow without her buddy screaming at her from the trailer

smurf - FJ mentioned that last night! I think she's quite excited about it really and by all accounts your boy is a pretty nice stand-in whilst H gets fit again (once she's all healed, FJ!!) :D. Lovely of you to lend him, FJ let me have a go on H last year when my own did something stupid, it's such a generous thing to do :)

Not sure FJ will still be thanking me when she is being draged round Brechin, If he's too naughty over the Pre Nov she may have to stick to the Nov fences

Sounds like a very productive evening. And FJ, how exciting for you to get out and about on Smurf's pony whilst princess H is mending. It's fab how the HHO-Scottish contingent are so lovely.

n_l_m a slap on the wrist for accidentally-on-purpose forgetting the camera. You can't pull that trick again! Is anyone going to be there to take photos of you tomorrow?

The Scottish contingent are indeed all brilliant.

I've had so many offers of rides on horses to keep me ticking over until H is back in work again, it's really really kind of everyone. Sadly not enough hours in the day to travel around and ride other folk's horses as well as tend to my own stable ornament, but really nice to grab the odd opportunity here and there and so generous of those who offer. Would love to think I can repay the favours one day... although those who have lent me ponies wouldn't need the downgrade ride onto an old schoolmistress pony...! ;)

 Poor boy will wonder a) why there are two smurfs riding compared to normal and b) why they are flapping about up there! :o

n_l_m - you should bring HB and prove your "I bet she'd be ace XC" theory...! :p

That'll teach me to keep my gob shut! Smurf mentioned "in a few weeks". By then I might just have let FC put me on a longer lunge line, I somehow don't think we'll be going xc

Kez yes I am, lesson at 11. Though my mare is neither fit nor clipped so we'll have to take lots of breaks! Which will be in no way helpful to the unfit jockey on board...

Oneinamillion, thanks yes it was a good night! Once I'd got over the initial effort involved of taking 2 horses anywhere

now_loves-mares i look forward to meeting you, im on a cow pony that hasnt been worked very much so im hopeing he is on his best behaviour!!

Kez1001 i shall look out for you to and Rex, i wasnt brave enough to jump as havent left the ground since Novemeber so very jealous!!!

p.s im sooo excited about going out and about tomorrow, at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

cool come say hello :) im doing a Les Smith lesson at 12.30 - really nervous already! we are still getting to know each other really.

applestroodle - i only jumped today!! and it was all a bit speedy! oopps!

aw well i will maybe manage to catch you after your lesson before mine as i will probably be there early to try and chill me and pony out! :)

Ha I've just seen this.
NLM you are more than welcome just let us know when the next time is so I can get on the end of that lunge line for you as we want to see her go XC.
Me & Figjam only turn up for a blether while you do all the hard work!!!! :):):)

By hard work, you really mean "dangerous", don't you??!

Think if we do Thursday I'll just take M as sounds like you'll be riding. But might try to take HB to Figjams yard soon. On a non windy daylight day though

We'll see about Thursday all depends if the coo mobeel gets fixed this week without too much hassle if not will be on the two feet again.
Can let us know when you get across to FJ's then we will assist again!!:D

Oh hahahaha had forgotten about FC's amazing catering skills :D

I'm in no rush :o. When turning them out this morning, they both helpfully insisted on rolling at the same time. This meant HB still had the rope over her neck, and on coming up again, decided this was really awful and reared RIGHT up. It would have been impressive if it was someone else's horse ;) Anyway she "must" be growing up, as she managed to only follow this up by one other mini-rear, a little buck and then a saunter off in a fast walk to tease me. In olden days she'd have bolted off for a few comedy laps of the field first
