I bought a welsh section C specifically for his breeding as i love his so called dad at the time, I have still yet to receive his passport and i have been on to welsh cob sociaty to see where the progression of this was.

I have had ruin since january and still nothing 6 months later? He wont be going any where i love the little monkey!

How ever i have also found out the reason for no passport yet is because his real mum who is Hywi Sally Ann is not registered to the hywi stud. And infact is not Hywi Pixie as i was lead to belive.

And also found out his dad is talon teifion and not poundy druid....None the less I am happy with the pony so i wont take that any further.

But i want to get Ruins Jabs sorted so we can go to shows and i dont want to do this unless i have a passport to be stamped plus i cant really go to shows unless i have this dam passport which means my beautiful little colt is missing out on showing off his swagger :(

Little deflated and dont know what to do, i have rang the stud again to ask for information, i have emailed, and every time been told its in hand, but surley this is not right? :confused:

same as most people buy, i bought him from a stud, filled in the passport with my details for it to be sent off.

Then you wait for it to be sent back to you, but due to this error its taken longer than suspected
 
he has a passport and is microchipped...im waiting for it back in my name, how ever was just the paper work for him as had only just been microchipped..

tbh my respect for this stud is slowly deminishing to say the least as i feel like ive been had in some ways

Personally that is not how I would buy anything, I only collect when they have a passport to give me.
 
a pet id will not be sufficient, being i paid for a registered welsh section c, for showing reasons i want the proper passport.

I see what you mean, clearly learnt that now, but this stud is a highly respected stud and a friend had purchased many from him with out an issue.
 
Society, but they have to keep sending it back as the Dams name is not in the correct name, she needs to be under Roger davis's name but i can only assume she is still under david bethals who breeds his stock under the hywi name.

Since speaking to the Society this is all coming together as to why i have had to wait so long, and i am now awaiting a phone call back from the hywi stud
 
Im sure if you ask the wpcs, & they r aware of the ins & outs they will release his reg number so you can enter him in shows- i would also ask them for a cover letter explaining the situation so u can travel him, im nt sure of the legalities it may have 2have his reg UELN on? As for his vaccines, we have had liveries book vaccines & nt get passports in time- the vet keeps record of batch number & date & simply stamps it on his nxt visit. I know it all seems alot of chasing, but the wpcs r so busy with foal registrations its not unheard of for it to take forever... I do know they offer a fast track service for a small fee- this is what my mum does... Although i know it wont help your situation. Sounds like u hav a lovely boy, i hope you have success with him x
 
Yeah this will be my next move, but i dont want to have to take that route, as said i did have a high respect for them but this is taking the girraff!..but being as i have to speak to my solicitor any way i may as well bring this up too

ahh fab thank you! this has cheered me up a bit knowing we dont have to miss anything! and thank you, he is cracking! i couldnt ask for a flashier mover!

I think that the youngster was passported and chipped, but the new owners details were put in by the stud at the time of purchase - and then sent off for amendment.

At this point it was discovered that the parent details were incorrect, hence the delay in receipt.

Or perhaps the OP not being clear in the original post? However, I do wonder why you bothered posting, as you are obviously much more clued up on these things than the rest of us. :p

If you buy a weanling, you very rarely (if ever) get a passport with the actual foal, even from a reputable stud, what you do get is copies of the initial paperwork and a transfer of ownership form, this is perfectly legal and above board.
 
The government website states very clearly that NO horse should be transported without a passport and even suggests that moving a horse must be planned carefully to avoid this happening, so not sure how legal moving weanlings without a passport is. Also any horse of six months or above must be passported. I am not clear why anyone would send the transfer papers before the horse reaches its destination.

I bought a 5 month old foal with a passport. I would not transport a horse without one.
 
Has anyone EVER been prosecuted for transporting or owning a horse without a passport? I know of noone :eek: I thought passports were just a money making rouse.
 
It is legal to move a weanling as long as the passport has been applied for. Most weanlings are around five months old anyway.

Yes it is very clear about transporting and how you must have a passport. You can transfer ownership once your new horse is at your property.

It is a legal necessity for a foal of six months to have a passport, most reputable studs do not wean prior to six months anyway, so not sure where the idea that most weanlings are five months comes from?
 
If they are under six months and being moved without their mother they need a passport and if they are not 6 mths by 31 Dec. they also need a passport. It is illegal to move them w/o a passport and no professional transporter would take them.

"All foals need to be micro-chipped as well as getting a passport. This must be done before the foal is six months old or by 31 December in the year it is born, whichever is later. If you want to sell your foal or move it without its dam earlier than this, you need to have it micro-chipped and get a passport."
