A little confused

I recently purchased a grackle bridle which arrived today. I am very pleased with it, but am a little confused with the reins. The part of the reins that attach to the bit have metal hoops on each end so how on earth do they attach to a bit. It does say in the description they come with showjumper style stiched ring return reins. Sorry for the numpy question, but I have never come across reins like this

Unbuckle the reins at the middle buckle. Make a loop of one rein through the bit ring and post the 'free end' (which will be one side of the middle buckle) through the metal loop, and pull the rein through. Do the same for the other side and then rebuckle in the middle
