Oh giant one has now been in IHW land 7 months, where has the time gone?!
I still think he is pretty cool and he is strengthening up nicely.

The plan was to be making event entries about now but the weather has gone and truely scuppered those plans! He has only managed one dodgy session at Lyneham allweather and one session at boomerang. Since then everything is shut and the 2 teamchases he was entered in were also cancelled.

Plan B will be to send him somewhere with xc on site for a week of schooling and then look at the calendar. Given the rate things are happening might aim for 2020?!

Meanwhile I have been chipping away on the flatwork. Spent 2 days over Easter at AMD and for the most part major improvement! He was tending to a short upright neck and not taking the contact so very pleased to be making good inroads into that. Again, once in canter, the balance is so much better and I can even sit into the saddle now, happy days :D No video or photographic evidence unfortunately.

This month we are now going to nail the transitions into canter, right especially. I have lots of homework for that, Giant will be a master of shoulder in over poles in a few weeks time!

This week he has been away jumping and been a good boy, he hasn’t left the ground for a few weeks so pleased he doesn’t forget!

He looks much more mature physically and the canter looks super, he is going to be really careful, being a big horse his reactions are remarkably quick most of the time, I am sure having to wait for his debut will do no harm even if it is rather frustrating.

He looks lovely in the video. He has the sort of canter that looks like he could keep going all day!

He's looking great - amazing canter, particularly given his size. He doesn't get too strung out at all, you're clearly doing an absolutely super job. Although probably just as well you're using a massive arena :D

Gosh he's looking lovely. He is a lovely mover. Nicely ridden in that vid. He's awesome!!

It's really nice reading updates on your training. It's tempting to see horses working so well, and think it's easy, but that ignores all the time training and effort that goes on in the background. Well done!

Thanks everyone, I feel pretty lucky to have found him as he is a pleasure to have around and produce. A very rewarding one.
Ester - I don’t have a measuring stick, so I’m living in blissful ignorance of his size. I’ve got used to it now and everything else just looks abnormally small now.

BP - yes in hindsight I think the weather delays are a blessing in disguise, in fact I think we might not even get him out until Aug/Sept now. It’s easy to forget he is only 8 months under saddle.

Jiffy - yes, but with an oxygen mask to assist at the moment :D

Apercrumbie - yes I tell my jump jockey she doesn’t know how easy she has it with that arena, it’s lovely. My arena is 20x40 on a slope!! As much as I moan about it, it does teach them balance and makes things so much easier away from home!

Bernster, thank you. What a lovely thing to say.
