Between spending most of my weekend end on the phone I have finally made a little progress with the ginger one :D

I am now able to go into her stable and touch her shoulder without being kicked or having her huge butt swang in my face :D
Is rather embarrassing making up songs to try and chill her out but I think I found the one

"Smelly Ellie with a big splodge on her belly" actually works well :) (sad I know)

On a more serious note, have many people had a possibly abused (am just assuming this could just be non handling) horse who can give me some tips on how to make further progress?
I honestly dont know what has happened with her, she`s really head shy, you cant get near her (unless you sing lol). In the field she happily comes towards you ears pricked then all of a sudden something clicks and she lunges for you....
But once she has a head collar on she`s like a baby and doesnt put a foot wrong.
Have bought a field safe head collar to leave on but she manage to get it off everytime its on without breaking it

Anyway some piccies of the ginger beast :)

Shes probably feeling unsure of herself still.Taken away from her old home to the sales must be really stressful especially if she hadnt had much handling before.
I would establish a routine that always rewards her for being caught, bring in and feed then start to build up her trust in you without pushing her but trying to do a little more each day.
If she likes you singing do:)Maybe try playing some music while she is in the yard.
I always feel with nervy ones that you take very small steps with them and suddenly they change and start working with you, then once you get their trust you can take bigger steps, just be patient you have plenty of time.
Good luck with her and dont let up on swar.

my boy was like that - and can still be but only in his stable. he's very nervous when theres more than one person in his box because he cant see whats happening. I take him outside so that he doesn't feel that I'm taking over his 'safe place'.
I would say be patient and take it slowly - she'll start to build her trust in you.
good luck - she looks lovely :)

As Be Positive says, it's just time and patience, as you say, you don't know what has gone on before and she's going into defence mode, she will come round and she looks a nice sort:):):)
