Sorry this is going to sound like the most self indulgent post EVER!! but ...................

I'm having a bit of a celebration today as I seem to have made it out of winter in one piece with all of my horses!

Basically last May my awful ex who it transpires had been cheating on me left when I had just taken redundancy so it looked like I'd lose my house and everything else, including my horses, as without work they wouldn't give me the mortgage . He had planned this and I'll be honest there were some very dark days but with the help of my folks and a very good lawyer friend I managed to get a new job and wrestle the house from his grasp.

I have three ex racers and although it might sound daft, I made a promise to myself that I would keep the boys no matter what (they're all very special needs!)

I got up every morning at 5am to do the horses before going to work all day then going back at night. We've had stitches, a colic episode, yard problems etc etc. They have always been well rugged, well fed, shod and most importantly loved. So, they haven't done much ridden stuff but ten months on I'm getting back on my feet, I've started working them and each one looks healthy and well.

Last week I cried with tears of pride when my veteran ex racer who suffers from navicular and arthritis went to his first show in years and looked and performed like a star.

I'm sure that without the focus of having the horses to care for things might not have worked out quite so well. I owe them an awful lot.

Never underestimate the power of the horse!!!! :)

It's important to celebrate when things go well as that's what gets you through the dark days so, no, I don't think you're being self indulgent at all!
I hope this marks the start of a new chapter for you.

well done to you. Your horses are a credit to you. Forget that numpty ex, he doesn't know what he lost. You have proved that you are better off without him. Your horse looks fantastic in that photo, well done.

Cheers guys! That's lovely of you all.

My old boy is 16 which isn't that old really but with his problems it was great to see him moving well, shiny and loving it!!

I also took my youngster out for his first hack out in months today and he was a little star too. Yay!!! :)

This a fab post, I'm so glad everything has picked up for you. Your horse is a beauty, he really looks something special, not surprised he did well. :)
