My farrier text my bill for my neds the other day, as he comes when im at work and my neds are angels to shoe,
Well the bills increased by £15, i text back asking "why", he said "petrols gone up"
He shoes my two when he's in the area which i am very flexible about and he lives very local so its not like he's driving 20 miles or so to see me especially.

I text back saying my petrol costs have gone up too and i would be sending him his final payment out.

Has anybody esles farrier put up the costs of shoeing because of pertol price increases???

Rant over

My farrier has not put up any prices for 5 years, suspect there will be an increase soon. Quite honestly, you have to expect them to need to charge extra, but that is a lot.

Mine went up when he became VAT registered

from £60 to £70 and some pennies???

I was a bit disapointed, but he is an excellent farrier and always on time..... nice to chat to and hard to offend!!!! so rather unlike most farriers that I have ever met

Mine's just put a £5 charge on for fuel but as there are usually 2 or more to do it's not unreasonable. And to be fair fuel has gone up so much he has to make it up somehow. He travels about 10 miles to us.

Mine came last week and when It came to pay he mentioned that he hadn't put his rates up yet. Dont like that YET word tho.

I think that there are 2 horses. My farrier has put up our shoes from £35 to £55 in 3 years, he's still worth it though, he's a great farrier and always on call

The cost of steel has gone up hugely as well - between that and the fuel prices most farriers are working at a loss at the moment as they are too scared to put their prices up and offend their customers.

Steel has gone up a lot, vehicle fuel, vehicle tax, vehicle insurnace, gas for the burner,
60 to 65 a set seems normal price

NO £15 increase for petrol, not even taking into account the cost of shoeing

Sorry Bounty, but NO farrier works at a loss earning £65 per 45 mins/hour

My old farrier didn't discount for re-fits because, and I quote, "the cost of the actual shoes is negligible"...
