This is my recently new 14.2hh, absolutely cracking little lad, 15 years old, but have no idea how he is bred!! Any ideas?? I was thinking poss Section D x or am I missing something obvious? I am rubbish at breeds!!

Few people have said to have a go at cob classes with him (small ones) is he heavy enough? Very strong chap, jumps anything and love him whatever he is or isnt, was just curious really.

Nice wee horse.
I'd agree, welsh cob cross, possibly with TB. It's difficult to say though. I guess I'm not much good with breeds either!
My first thought was cleveland bay cross, but he's too wee.
Whatever. He looks a nice sort though.

There's something in his expression that says Welsh Cob, but the rest of him has got me puzzled - that's not a Welsh Cob shoulder! Very perplexing but a smart little sort all the same, plenty enough to him for cob classes, if he jumps he'd do very well as a working hunter as he looks just the part. Good thick neck and looks to move well if that photo is anything to go by.

I'd say there's a lot of New Forest in him as the side view standing, he's the spit of a New Forest I used to ride.

What are his paces like? Bouncy or flat as I'd say crossed with Hackney.

Otherwise Connemara !

I think he looks quite like a connemara cross, or maybe a bit of warmblood in him, but he does look FAIRLY cobby, not heavy enough 4 a D though, maybe a section C. But don't totally take my word for it, I'm not thats great with breeds either!

I'm not really seeing the Welsh but I agree he is raving NF!

Not Connemara; they almost always have the typical Connie head and he doesn't. I'd imagine he is NF cross ... but crossed with what is anyone's guess, Lol! He's very nice whatever he is.

With regard to cob classes your main problem is his height - at 14.2 he will look tiny next to the up to height cobs, which is a shame as he's a nice little horse. You should be O.K. at local level though. What about working cob classes - if he's a good jumper it should go some way to outweighing his lack of height?

I cant see the welsh either....

Merlin is Welsh D x ISH apparently, I can see the D but thats all....

Pic to compare to

I would guess NF and he has a lack of heavy feathers so would guess something a bit more hot as the cross
