I run a small (7 horse) DIY yard in NE Surrey /kent border with good access to M25 and London and one of my liveries is moving away. I want to replace her with 1 assisted livery and need some guidance on how much to charge and if the charge I have is reasonable!
Horse/owner would get
Stable
use of decent rubber floodlit school
alarmed tack room
turnout 24/7 if required May-Sept
turnout everyday in the winter
I would:-
summer
check horse twice a day
poo pick and fly spray/rug in summer
feed in summer if required
bring in for farrier etc
winter
get in/put out
muck out
supply bedding (on rubber mats)
supply hay (made on site)
change rugs
supply feed and feed
horse would have very individual care due to size of yard and we have nearly 20 acres so plenty of turnout in pairs with good fencing.No barbed wire and little mud in the winter.
Parking for horsebox or trailer
hacking opposite the yard
farrier opposite the yard as a bonus!!
Geldings only and no teenagers or children so "grown up" yard where we socialise and do quite a lot of competing.
I was planning to charge £75-80 per week.

Sounds super.
I would expect to pay £80-90 a week for a livery of that calibre. All I would comment on is are you prepared to have the horse in for part of the day through the summer if the owner wished?
If you are pushing for 24/7 turnout through summer then you might need to consider dropping your price a little for that period. But for £75 a week through winter that cost might be off set anyway.
 
Living in Kent - I would say £95 - £100 a week for this level of service. It is virtually full livery.

yep thats what mine is roughtly depending on size of horse
 
thanks for all your replies...Im happy to have the horse in daytime in the summer (mine would happily snooze the day away) although I would prefer from the horses view to be out while the weathers nice!...I did contemplate a summer and winter figure but I would still check the horse x 2 a day and poo pick the field flyspray and rug if etc so I thought £10 a day or so would actualy even out in the winter when its more work with mucking out/rugs etc etc...I dont want to put anyone off but do need to fill the space although the yard is very special and i have always found with DIY the first person to see the space takes it!....

well i dont think you can judge it by the size of the horse as you would not give smaller level of care if it was a pony the only difference would really be the food consumption,as poo picking would still be on the same level as you still have to scour the entire field for droppings no matter what size the horse is.

but back on subject its a very good service you are providing but if anyone asked me for more than £65pw for full livery i would laugh in there face but thats be personally the only way i would pay over that would be for a very superb INDOOR school and a very very good rider exercising my horse twice a week.

but then again i have never stabled FULL always been DIY and i have never known anywhere around here that is more than £70pw for full livery and the yards have had horse walkers,xc,parking,indoor and outdoor arena's and fabulous hacking in one or two of them.
 
I take it James your not in the South East then as I have done some research (didnt just pluck the figure from thin air) and £65 wouldnt get you an Indoor school, horse walker et al down here!!!...

however my yard is very small and so can offer very personal care..my horses dont need horse walkers cos they have 20 acres to get turned out into all year round!!..and im not offering exercise for the horse, nor tack cleaning etc..I have my own to ride and certainly no desire to ride anyone elses for money!!..although I did turn down my offer for Bejing on human rights grounds so my ridings probably up to it!!!

I am in the south east and pay £75/week for similar with less turnout but with horsewalker and dont think the it's as organized as yours sounds and I need to check up and chase lots. have been on several yards in south east and looked at others - seem to be about £75-95 week. I would be very happy to pay that amount for that service
 
We are in Surrey and every yard I have worked at would charge £85 - £100 for that service and level of facilities. Most would still "hot bunk" your stable during the summer - so if your horse was out a night another horse would have your stable at night. That way they get double income during the summer months as they can have double the amount of horses!
