a lorry how much

i guess maybe find the same type on ebay and see what they go for? Some that have no tax or test sell well, others dont, so i guess you would have to try and find one very similar to yours condition wise?

I would offer rock bottom, cos a Ford Cargos are renown for rusting around the cab, plus the parts are becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of. I would push them to test it, or it could cost you 2K easy to get it through the test, especially if its been stood for a while, its the brakes that seize up on them.

I was advised by my mechanic not to look at anything over 12 years old as that is the designed lifespan of the Iveco chassis. A commercial truck will have done enough miles to wear out the engine by then; however with a horse box the problem will be rust not the engine. I know it's easy for me to say, and tricky if you can't afford newer - but can you afford to repair the older one? My Iveco kept having bits fall off while I was driving along (13 years old at that time). Sold it and I've heard on the grapevine it happens frequently to new owners too.

Nothing, you'll struggle to get parts for a Cargo and things will constantly need replacing on a lorry that age. I sold an E reg DAF last year and you could still get parts ok for them, but any lorry around that age takes a lot of maintaining.

i would ditto absolutely rock bottom. i had a complete shed of a ford cargo on a D plate. i had fun going to local shows for two years but then everything started breaking and it was even a pain trying to get windscreen wipers for it! sold it on ebay for 1k if that helps but i honestly would have taken £100 to get rid of it!

If the lorry was any good the sellers would have put 12 months test on it prior to selling because it would make more money. The fact that they haven't may well be because it will cost a fortune to get through plate, assuming you can get the parts. I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole.

thanks people im taking my dad who is a mechanic to have a proper look at it with me tomorrow, i was pretty much spot on with what i thought it was worth but i just wasnt sure, the trouble is i need a lorry as i have a huge horse who doesnt fit in a trailer, and i have a very limited budget (because huge horse is always at the bl@@dy vet, which costs a fortune as i have to hire a lorry to get him there and back)
