Some of you may recall in 2005 one of our first foals fractured her hock, she was rushed to the Royal Dick Vet and I was given the choice to have her PTS or allow her to undergo surgery...... well she was my "starlight" and I told them to pull out all of the stops, she underwent over 4 hours of surgery, 16 pins and a metal plate were put in place and we finally received the news that the surgery had gone well....... it was the longest waiting time ever........ With several months of bandaging, she was finally able to have the pins removed and eventually joined the herd....... well almost three years have since passed and I have absolutely no regrets!

Here she is........ Achanenna..

thankyou, she will always remain our princess!

Honey, yes it was, I should be awarded an imobilising specialist certificate. LOL and sadly that expertise has been put into practice once too often...... but hey ho those babies are sent to test us...... at times I wondered if I did the right thing but then I look at her and see just how affectionate and gentle she is have absolutely no regrets......

Oh she's a delight! A very lucky filly indeed. How sound is she now? Field sound only or does she have a ridden career ahead of her?

Heh Opie,

She is is looking fab - a credit to you and a real Umenno daughter heh!! Hopeing for one myself next year...!!!

SN I think the trauma will cuase her to become arthritic relatively young so she will be a brood mare for a few years. Her hock does jump in trot but not in walk or canter and although she charges around with the rest of them from time to time she avoids racing around. never seen her lame which is a good thing. she will live out her days at the farm until such tomes as she does become uncomfortable which hopefully won't be for a very long time.

Thanks MacHannah
