Has anyone got silica sand with turffloat fibre menage surface?

What are your experiences with it, and how does it ride?

Also, would you or have you considered using the hydrogel additive with it?

What other surface would you recommend for jumping on?

We have sand and rubber at the moment on my current yard that i rent, but do find that it moves quite alot when jumping on it and it was done by a well known company about 6 months ago, we werent allowed to ride on it for a couple of weeks until the sand had become compact under the rubber, so it did have time to settle before we used it.

I'm moving yards soon, just in the process of buying a new yard, and have to resurface the menage, but i don't want to spend a fortune on a new surface to find that its rubbish, i'd rather know beforehand before wasting my money .

We have a silica sand & Turfloat fibre surface on the menage at our yard. It's a good surface, it rides well & is good to jump on.

Solihull Riding Club have the same surface & they used to host the Blue Chip Championships & some huge classes have been jumped there so it's certainly a good surface.

Thanks for the advice, yes, I have jumped on Solihull surface and it seemed pretty good, but the one I saw tonight, was quite deep in places, alot deeper than Solihull surface.
Maybe they hadn't put enough fibre in with the sand. They said they had put in 6 bales for a 40 x 20 manege (For Doris)

Did you put in gel with yours?
Solihulls always looks pretty compact, I wonder if they water it alot?
Does your surface move? And do you water it alot?

We don't have gel in with our surface & due to low water pressure at the yard we are not able to have the sprinkler on it. Normally it rides really well however at the moment, due to us having no rain for about a month it is riding a little deep. Once we get some rain it will go back to being a gtreat surface.

Thanks for your help.
Think we're gonna go with the silica sand and turffloat, and also have the gel put down as well.
Had a reasonable quote for the surface from them today, and don't think i'll be able to find a better surface than at there prices unless I went for rubber and sand, (which i don't want).
