I thought you all deserved a 2013 update on Milo as you've given me advice and support!
We've had a bit of a Christmas miracle or maybe he had a seasonal epiphany. I'm not sure if it's just the training starting to kick in or the magnesium I've started him on but he's improved dramatically in the last few days. We have been able to walk him on the lead with absolutely no pulling (no small feat as he was like a steam train!). We're using a "gentle dog" harness and it seems to help enormously as he was very wound up by the halti but impossible to handle in a flat collar.
He's doing well with his recall in the enclosed tennis court and we'll just keep plodding along working on that. He comes back without reeling in on the long line about 85% of the time now, a huge change from the 0% when he arrived!
We've started to touch on retrieval and flush training with assistance from a local gun dog trainer. He's thoroughly enjoy it all.
There is light at the end of the tunnel!
