A mini CC rant :(

Well I didn't comment on the thread in question but I will now, and I thought you looked like a fab partnership, and the only thing I was going to CC you on was that she seemed to have developed both muscle under AND over her neck, which I thought was clever, most hoses only manage one :p Then I read that you have been schooling her in a certain way to try to stop evasions and thought fair enough, that'll come good in time, and didn't bother saying what I now have just done, which is a very long winded way of saying that I thought you and your horse looked fab both individually and as a partnership. :D

I can't believe you got a pm saying that! You do slump but I am just as bad too. The best think an instructor did for me was make me ride with a wooden board down my back, it helped.

Your horse looks happy and relaxed and very lovely

I know people who also ride in a double because of an injury to their lower legs.
She says it gives her more control, makes her feel safer and helps with the aids.
So what if you do, ignore them.
You are safe and your horse is happy....and lush!

You could have sold her on to a home that didn't want to cope with her behaviour and the end result doesn't bare thinking about.
The world needs idiots like your cowardly poster........what would happen to Jeremy Kyle if the idiots did all drown in their limited gene pool!

I'd suggest PM'ing TFC with a copy of the message you were sent and letting him remind the sender of their manners.

Take no notice of such cowardly people. They are not worthy of your notice.

When I asked for help with Fany's weight and again when I posted in breeding about breeding from her ( She is a very well bred Ardennes with a handful of show champions in her direct lineage and some big wins in Belgium herself) I got some really nasty PMs saying nasty things about me and, more unforgivable, even nastier things about Fany . Spiteful people are always cowards in my experience. If you have something to say, say it openly or keep your opinions to yourself! They are below your notice. But I would send the PMs onto TFC as whilst you are strong enough to get angry someone else may leave the forum because of these bullies and that is what they are
.

I hope you and Delica are fine, she is a a lovely mare and is obviously loved by you. As to riding, I never comment on that as I am no expert myself.

Name and shame.

And ignore the pm.

Damn right!

Forward ME the pm if you want....and I'll make them wish they had never opened their mouths....

How DARE people sit in judgment on others?

People will spout bull**** behind a screen, but they are FAR too cowardly to say it to your face....

Forward me that PM...I'm getting itchy fingers....

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...............

What hell is up with some people?????? I cannot be Arsed to check my spelling for proper replies let alone be arsed to send a shxxty pm to someone. Second pic is bob on and horse looks happy in both pics. Boxxocks to the nasty pasty - clearly have some serious deep rooted anger issues - probably derived from loosing a childhood toy at a critical developmental stage which has resulted them into being one of lives nasties! Feel sorry for them xxxxx

I posted a thread of my riding the horse of my life and recieved the most vile PM stating how unhappy my horse looked and basically i had no right to be riding her etc as i clearly couldnt ride a donkey. :(

That is disgusting behaviour.
You asked for CC on the thread (which I gave you) but why would someone feel the need to send you a PM? Seriously, why?

As for saying your horse is unhappy and you can't ride is a load of crap.

Name and shame definitely.

Name and shame or send a copy to TFC you don't deserve that, I didn't comment on your original post but I take my hat off to you and your stunning mare for your courage to keep going, chin up big hugs

Sorry to hear you were upset by another HHO's comments. This is exactly why I don't come on here much anymore ... one bad apple ...

There are some lovely people on here, too many to mention, but when you get battered down by even just one person for no apparent reason it is hurtful and I and many others would rather not put ourselves in the position.

BTW, fab horse and rider ... you look an ideal match.

I saw your oiriginal thread and thought you looked lovely together, v. beautiful horse by the way! However, I'm not good enough to give cc so didn't post anything.

Unfortunately you are not the first and won't be the last to get a nasty pm, there are tons of nice people with good advice on here but of course there are always the nasty people and the bullies. You just have to ignore them, I would imagine they were just jealous of your gorgeous horse tbh!!

Whenever I ask for advice and receive a pm I actually panick before reading it incase its something nasty, luckily I haven't received one of those yet but never say never!!!

The person who PMed you sounds like a TOTAL IDIOT. Delicia looks healthy, happy, glowing and very content with her work in all your photos, hardly the image of an unhappy horse! You are a really good rider, there is no problem with using a double and in none of the photos are you wacking her in the mouth in any way. Everyone leans forward bar Mr Carl Hester, so unless it was the great Carl Hester PMing you, ignore them!

OK, I don't know what the PM said but please don't throw the baby out with the bath water so to speak.

Looking at the pictures again I'd guess it is someone else who picked up on how pulled in your horse's mouth is. No, horse didn't look happy (to me who doesn't know her) in all the pictures and you could certainly learn to be kinder with your hands and/or consider a change of bit.

BUT

You asked for CC. That means you *know* that you can improve (we all can!).

if it was someone complaining abt you looking down I wouldn't worry too much - you know about it and will learn not to if you end up on the floor enough times ;-)

Chin up (no pun intended!) and treat yourself to a lesson to focus on being softer through the hands.

That is completely out of order and I would a. report it to the TFC and b. put the person who sent this to you on Ignore User and block them from being able to PM you ever again. It is one thing to offer constructive criticism and another thing altogether to send obnoxious, unhelpful and downright rude and upsetting comments like that. Shame on whoever did that, there is nothing big or clever about being a keyboard bully.

Its not so much pulled in as she is fighting it a little, however these photos are a snap shot in time and my father didnt take pics of her trotting around on a loose rein doing long and low work, nor anything else i did with her. I have meantioned what the pm stated so if you read back you will realise it wasnt me simply having a hissy fit over people not telling me i ride like carl hester :P

*update*

I have been inundated with numerous PM's, facebook messages and comments of support and i am touched. :) Thank you everyone for your kind words, i shall be replying to each person individually.

I cannot stand bullies and although there is a lot of call for me to name and shame, to do so would mean i am a hypocrite to my own cause. I have dealt with the matter with the proper and appropriate means (i'm setting delicia on them). TBH the whole incident although initially upset me, has made me more resolute to train hard and love and pamper my horse even more then i already do. However dressage deluxe/classic dressage need to get more stock in in that case :P.

You will be pleased to hear i have had the wonderful yard i am at beat delicia today, slap her two toned new duo rug on her and throw her in the field so she feels homeless! Only problem is she looks happy :S :P

Many thanks everyone

Rachel and Delicia

Not read all the posts but I have learnt, thru many years experience that not all horses are the same... MY cob is genuinely happier in a double bridle - I have ridden others at dressage up to and including intermediare 11 in competition and grand prix at home and until I got my cob hated having to use a double. But this little fella is unhappy with a snaffle only and settles completely in a double.

What I'm trying to say is that you know your horse better than anyone and anyone who pms you to be nasty is little more than a bully - who probably doesn't know their posterior from their elbow!

No one is a perfect rider we're all just doing the best that we can with what we've got...

So sorry to hear someone sent horrible comments, how rude! I would be fuming!!!

You should hold your head high though as you have risen well above them, good on you hun :)

I think this ^^ is a brilliant idea

I have an IDx who is like this - he'll tolerate the snaffle, but he works much better and happily in the double!

Blooming oddballs on this forum sometimes...obviously they have far too much time on their hands! I haven't read your original post but as others have said you are really brave to get back on riding your horse and don't worry what others say or think, you know her best and will go at your own speed. I am just back riding my mare who as a local showjumper once commented "she's not a novice ride, definitely quirky but a lot of fun". She has been off work for almost a year but you wouldn't think it; she doesn't like the take it easy approach. Before she got her injury I had just got my confidence back after falling off her when she reared with me so her walk to canters are a little unsettling at the minute but we're getting there. I know I am a crap rider and she could do better than me but we'll get there at our own pace. Have fun with your mare and ignore the losers who are probably jealous you get to ride her!

Still think you should name and shame, especially if the poster is going about this forum like their daily business. I, for one, wouldn't want to speak to them again after being so cruel to you.

One spiteful, uncalled for and rude PM, lots and lots of positive CC and PMs

My guess is that the majority are correct and the rude person is not.

Onwards and upwards :)

I hardly post on here anymore but I wanted to say to you please don't ride no more. I heard you say if your leg gets hurt again it would have to be amputated above the knee. Its just not worth the risk.

I know you love your horse and evrything but please love your leg more.

Ishould know cos my friend got told by her doctor dont ride your pony no more cos your bowels will break, well, guess what she rode her pony and now she has had acolsotmy bag or whatever its called and beleive me she doesnt think shes so clever now :(

So everyone who has an injury or disability should give up the things in life that they get the most pleasure from?
I'm glad you don't post very often, because your comment is offensive.

I would rather lose my leg doing something i love then live my life scared of what might happen.

I technically died twice when i broke my leg, once in the field with the paramedics trying to help me and in theatre where they had a real struggle to get me back. I remember my mother screaming and crying as she thought i was dying. it is the most haunting thing i have ever experienced. I was a shell after what happened and my horse has allowed me to come out of my shell. This is why delicia is so important to me, and means so much to me. She gives me the leg i wish i had.

There are so many things that can happen in life, and there are so many people much more worse off then i am. I owe it to myself to live my life rather then exist within it. Yes i will lose my leg if it get injured again, and i am far from out of the woods yet as i suffer from terrible complications including RSI and severe nerve damage. BUT i am alive, i stil have my leg and i have a beautiful animal that i love. My mother supports my right to ride and if in teh event my arthritis gets too bad or i go down hill, delicia will be trained to adapts with me. Either way she has earnt a home for life and as long as i can ride and she can be ridden she will be.

GODRULESDAWORLD - i understand where you are coming from, but only my mother and I know the conversations that went on when i was recovering. Its been 4 years since the inccident and its only been recently that i have felt happy in the saddle. I am still very nervous on the ground, to the point where i have to walk away and compose myself as i dont want my nervousness to rub off on delicia. But delicia can sense it, and she whickers to me and pressers her face into my own. I trust my horse as much as you can trust any animal and in the event if i were to fall or be thrown and i injured myself again, i could be happy with myself that I ultimately tried and faced my fears, rather then shyed away from them.

I saw your photo thread the other day and thought you looked lovely. You asked for CC but seemed to be more than aware where your weak areas are, and that's half the battle! I share lots of them myself in fact - I think I need to find a giant drawstring contraption to keep my back straightened and my shoulders back! lol.

I think you're being the bigger person by not naming and shaming them, and credit to you for it. I agree about forwarding the PM to TFC. That way the person is dealt with by the book and you're in no way lowering yourself any.

Best of luck to you and Delicia 80) Life is too short not to do what you enjoy: power to you for taking up riding again and coming so far with it!

I've got arthritis in the base of my neck, bad shoulder, injured knee, torn ligaments and broken foot due to riding.

Do I need to stop riding?

NOT going to happen....

You cannot dictate to one person, just because something happened to another.....
