I must say, though...that I am a bit confused as to why they are called 'galloping boots'....I assumed the lights meant they were for roadwork? Not that I don't enjoy galloping on the main A417 you understand....

At least when drivers think "What the heck are those?" They are aware that you are there. I've seen those before, hid the advertisement from the child! Poor kid, her pony used to wear bright orange leg bands and an orange tail fringe. I'm of the opinion that the more silly you look the more visible you are and that isn't a bad thing.
I used to ride in the yellowest of sailing jackets and had been told that I could be seen on the mountain a mile away, I always felt a bit of an idiot wearing it but after a while began to feel undressed without it. I saw some great tee shirts the other day with fluorescent crosses on them for workmen. I haven't seen a fluorescent anything since I've been here, people don't seem to ride on the roads much at all. Besides that, where I am the roads are dead straight and you can see for miles (our concession is 10 miles long!!!) the dust clouds usually give oncoming traffic away!
